Guest guest
Dolly, something similar happened to my DH lasty month. He was cutting down a cottonwood inthe front yeard and thought something fellinto his ear (a chip of wood or a bug) anyway he ear was killing him and we began by coning and then followup with ear oil and some DMSO & Collodial Silver. Anyway, after the coning, he kept insisting something was still in there and i took a BIG flashlight and looked and all i could see was the beadspread (humor) i saw nothing. But he was persistant and kept messing with it. After a month of constant messing with it, it is still bugging him and last week the medico said there is absolutely nothing in there other than it looking a bit red (IRRITATION from messing with it) Per my original speculation in this mater, the ear just needs some time to settle down. I really think this is one of those times, to step back and do nothing, at least for a few days to a week and see what happens. Sylvia > Well I had an ear infection for three weeks. Guest guest
D. One of our adopted sons had water behind his eardrum, presumably from an old infection. His records from the orphanage showed numerous ear infections. It did end up going away on its own but it took almost a year of no *further* infections. The good news is that he is water and ear-infection free now. (knock on wood!) No real wisdom to impart besides try to avoid new infections as much as possible. From what I hear, the water being there makes you rather susceptible. *As soon as* my son would start complaining of *any* ear discomfort I would put garlic oil mixed with a little almond oil on a piece of cotton ball and in his ear it would go. I think this kept him from getting any more full blown infections - the pain was always gone within hours and we never had to go in for meds. Good luck! Guest guest
<<<Well, I'm getting on a plane in a week and I certainly don't want this problem still around when I change altitudes.>>> A friend of mine has ear problems when flying and found a device at the drug store that protects the ears from the pressure changes. I can’t remember the name so if you can’t find it at your local druuuuuug ( Carlin circa 1960) store, let me know and I’ll get the exact name for you. She said it was pricey but also a miracle and worth every penny. She wasn’t dealing with an infection so it might not work but it couldn’t hurt as long as you don’t leave it in too long as that might stir up the infection again. Guest guest
Hi Suzi, he did a pressure test in my ears, and a hearing test. The hearing test came back in the normal range for both ears. The pressure test was way below normal for the ear that had been infected. My hearing is definately better, but it is still muffled and the ear doesn't have a " free " feeling if that makes sense. I didn't do garlic/mullein. I did garlic/very little tea tree and little lavender. > Well, the last time I had this and that is what they told me.... it turned out to be inner ear bone problems.... losing my hearing, not due to water behind the eardrum... . did the specialist do a hearing test?? Is your hearing any better? How long did you do the garlic/mullein ear drops? > Suzi >
Guest guest
Thanks Sylvia, that is probably what the doctor was thinking. I normally would let it take it's own sweet time to heal but I'm worried about the flight I'm scheduled for in about a week. The doctor did give me a strong antibiotic and told me to only take that if it was a few days before the trip and I didn't feel well. (I really want to avoid that.) I'm just feeling really tired right now. I realized too that the fact that my work involves me analyzing sound, has made me more tired because I have to concentrate more where before I could just focus on my work and not have to focus on the hearing too. The doctor also told me to get some " Afrin " nose spray and spray the sinuses once in the air and then again 20 minutes before landing. He said he thought that might balance the pressure. I'm still nervous about it. --- In health , " Sylvia " <h10feet@y...> wrote: > Dolly, > > something similar happened to my DH lasty month. Guest guest
Thank you Jenn. Some years back I had a doctor tell me that I should always put cotton in my ears when I took a shower and I have done that for many years. (I should take stock out in cotton ) From what you and Suz say I guess I should at least keep up with the garlic oil. You would crack up if you saw me. All my students have been trying to give me their suggestions. One had me hop up and down on my right foot while I tilted my head to the left. Another had me hitting the right side of my head hard while tilting the left side down. Another had me do the " hold your nose and blow " thing. And one who is a lifesaver had me put a couple of drops of alcohol mixed with glycerin in and then turn my head to see if it would drain out. This is getting ridiculous. > D. > One of our adopted sons had water behind his eardrum, presumably from an old > infection.
