I would DEFINITELY share this with your doctor. Yes, there have been

very few people with reactions from xolair and I am sure they start

out small. Let us know what he/she says. BTW, how is your asthma

doing since you have been on xolair?

Lately, I am having terrible itching and hot flashes since my

cardiologist put me on a drug called Simcor. It contains 500 mg of

Niacin. ITCHY stuff!

Xolair has never done that to me in the 4+ years I have been on it.

About 2 months ago I had a reaction in my doctors office. I started

itching everywhere and my face and skin turned very red. This happened

within 5 minutes of recieving the injection. They gave me zyrtec and

then after a couple of minutes my blood pressure went crazy and the

numbers got really close. They had me lay down and drink some juice

and they gave me a prednisone shot. Then my heart rate was going crazy

and i started to have trouble breathing and felt dizzy. The doctor

gave me epinephrine shot and i just layed there while it was taking

its course. After about 20 minutes of getting that last shot

everything started to turn back to normal. I had trouble walking from

the epinephrine because i was shaking. But after that happened they

wanted to take me off the medicine. but i have been taking xolair for

about 4 years and it has made a major impact on my life. now, instead

of being hospitalized about every other month.. maybe every other year

now. I am not on prednisone near as much. so i talked to my doctor and

one day we decided to try it again. there were a total of 6 doctors

there incase something would happen. they did a skin test before

injecting me and it was negative. so they gave me the shot and i had

to sit there for 4 hours... and i did fine. now i am back to taking it

but after i recieve the injection i have to wait 1 hour in the office.

they came to the conclusion that i might of had a reaction to

something else... because i am allergic to everything inside and

outside. but they still want to take percussion's while im in the office.

this medicine has changed my life so much and i am only 18.

i now work outside at an amusementpark in the summer... i never would

have dreamed of working outside before starting xolair.

let me know what happens.

hope this helps. :]

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Xolair since I've had these " hot

flashes " for years for no apparent reason plus being a week late

getting Xolair during spring (thank you Accredo Nova Factor) just

made me all the more touchy, but wanted to make sure a fluke thing

wouldn't get me bumped off my wonder drug..lol

My asthma has been great since starting Xolair in 2003. I had

gotten to the point (pre-X) that serious asthma attacks didn't even

phase me I was so used to having them. Now I walk around for weeks

sometimes before noticing I don't have an inhaler with me (although

I don't recommend this, it happens sometimes when I switch purses)

and usually I only notice because I'm trying to offer it to my mom

when she starts wheezing. Spring (silly blooming things) and fall

(love cotton clothes but hate when they spray the fields) are still

more difficult than what a non-asthmatic probably goes through but

definitely a huge improvement from before. It's taking some time

actually getting out and doing things, going outside, walking very

far, etc. as I don't remember being able to do that since I was a

kid without problems so it's not second nature to me but I'm working

on it.
