Guest guest
We are here if you need us. Shane feel free to vent all you want. Lynne [ ] 1st shot Well, we're back from the doc. Shane gave himself his first shot in the stomach this afternoon. The nurse said to expect the side effects to kick in in the next 3-4 hours. She was soooo nice! She spent over and hour going over side effects, remedies, etc. Shane is the first patient in the office to receive the new pen-like shot. Too cool ya'll. Instead of messing around with vials and syringes all he has to do is pop it, shake it, attach the needle, dial the dose, and wham he's done. This in itself has reduced the stess level a bit. I was so worried it was going to be measure this measure that and all that stuff. We're headed up to the store for some essentials...looks like it's going to rain, and to grab Tommy for pre-school. We have a couple of movies to veg out to tonight, but I'll keep ya'll posted as things progress.
Guest guest
Thanks. He seems to be doing pretty good. It's been almost 6 hours since his shot and a good 2 since his pills. I thought he's only take 1 twice a day, but it's 3 twice a day...they're Rebetrol. He has a headache, chills, and a low grade fever. We're all headed to bed to snuggle for a while...hopefully Shane sleeps tonight. We really appreciate ya'll. > We are here if you need us. Shane feel free to vent all you want. Guest guest
Hope Shane is feeling well this morning! We cannot see the future, we cannot change the past, we can only live in the now with an eye towards gaining enough power in the future to wreak revenge on everyone who ever screwed us in the past.Eddie
Guest guest
That’s great. It’s nice that you appreciate “your guys”, too. That’s going to help you all get through this by 100%. Keep up the teamwork. –dz- [ ] Re: 1st shot · We explained to him Monday night and then again last night after the shot that Daddy would be on " yucky grown-up medicine " that will make him feel bad for a while, but would feel better after. Shane's a great dad. He's played x-box with him today and crawled in bed with him and watched a little bit of a movie this afternoon. They are throwing Shamu around in the living room right now. They're pretty tight so I don't think tx is going to effect their bond at all. You know, I'm pretty lucky to have such cool guys. Thanks for being there for us. Guest guest
I was lucky I had a nice nurse that I usually dealt with. I have had problems with nurses taking that kind of attitude with me before too. Though I did experience some of the same service you are getting. It seems that the doctor does his rounds, etc. then in the afternoon they address the phone calls, prescription requests, etc. In your case, being newly on the treatment and having a specific complaint (rather than a prescription request, etc.) you should have gotten a call back sooner. I would take it up with her as well, and if her response is not satisfactory, I would then take it to the doctor. She may be going beyond her scope and deciding which calls are “important enough” to bother the doctor about. –dz- [ ] Re: 1st shot Yeah, maybe so. Last night really scared me with Shane shaking and his teeth going ninety to nothing. It seemed like no matter what I did he just couldn't get warm. It was hard to watch him suffer through this and knowing that there's more to come. He had a killer headache today, but I got the doc to call him in some Ultram and that seemed to help. We called early this morning, didn't get a call back, again right after lunch, no call back, and then Shane called this afternoon. Once the nurse called the house she told us not to call her more than once. That didn't sit well with me, and I will be addressing this with her in person next week. She is the official " liver nurse " and she should know what their patients go through and how important it is that she returns calls in a timely matter. Okay, I'm done griping.... Guest guest
I had my first shot today, yaa. I am on the lowest dosage 1 shot every 4 weeks. Everything went good, the worst part was sitting in the office for over 2 hours but that was just for the first shot. I just have to stay for 1/2 hour on future shots. Thanks to all for the encouragement you gave me. Jean

Guest guest
> > Great news!! Welcome to the Xolair club!! > > Bi weekly xolair shots are just a regular part of my life and schedule. Every other Friday at 1 PM I go to my allergist's office, get my two shots, wait 30 minutes and come home. It has been this way for almost 5 years now. You will get used to it and your lungs will thank you for it Doug Group founder
Guest guest
Today, I had my 120th shot. As usual, not a problem. No pain, no redness, certainly no reaction and only a 30 minute wait. In a few months, you will start to see results. Some people have seen results almost immediately but they are rare. Most see improvement in about 6 months to a year. It was just over a year for me. Welcome to our group. You are among friends, Doug
Guest guest
Hi Doug, I haven't had any problems either, not even with the shot hurting. I am lucky because I only have to have it every 4 weeks so I'm not complaining. The nurse told me they usually give it 3 to 6 months to see if its working, does that mean after 6 months they stop? I might be one it takes a year for. I will ask her this next appt. Take care and Have a great weekend. Jean ---- uca79iii <uca79iii@...> wrote: > Today, I had my 120th shot. As usual, not a problem.
