Guest guest
Shirl, According to the Centers for Disease Control: " During the past 2 decades, Giardiainfection has become recognized as one of the most common causes of waterborne disease (found in both drinking and recreational water) in humans in the United States . Giardia are found worldwide and within every region of the United States. " Apparently it has to pass through one's mouth in order to enter the system. Yes, IgE plays a role in protecting humans against parasites. It won't, however, prevent one from exposure to parasites. The CDC's definition of recreational water includes hot tubs, jacuzzi's, swimming pools, as well as lakes, rivers, streams. I imagine it could be passed easily via a public water fountain, as well as drinking after someone who's got it. Hope this helps, Addy Group co-owner Not a doc
