Guest guest
All this talk about the M word makes me think:p Now if Midget is derived from Midge, meaning small bug, right? Then a smidge which also means small, really small, is that just a smaller bug yet or a smaller midget? Then smidge which really come from Smidgeon, is that just a PC way for dwarf pidgeon instead? Then Titmouse, what is that n e way? But apparently it's not a mouse or a bug, or ****, well forget it, you know! I don't know if I should define that smallie, but here goes! hehe Titmouse, " Any of numerous small insect-eating passerine birds of the family Paridae, found in woodland areas throughout the world and including especially members of the genus... " Dictionary.com But, I guess, we could use that one for a dwarf mouse if we want! haha I look at this way, I see both Bill's points and 's, but , no offense to you, but I do disaggree with you here: 1. She may be average sized, but she is the mom of an lp, so of course she knows how she feels, she made her, she raise her, it's her very blood and tissue and LOVE too. Besides, mom's just know as well. They may not say it or show it at times as to let their child grown and go on their own, but they know, from the heart they know:). 2A. She will always be a dwarf, and even I think would agree with me there. She never referred to her daughter as being only " currently " a dwarf and then later *poof* she will no longer be one. And I think sadly sometimes, but perhaps not all tho, so please note I said not all, we, the 'Un-Ell', mistaken the parents and the lp's reason to have ELL, because 'we' think they somehow think or wish or hope that it will " remove " the dwarfism. I personallly met Gillian on here, though she may not remember so, but she is one confident smart woman:). Now, maybe I don't agree with her choice or even her reasons as to why she had Ell done, but I know in my heart of hearts that she thinks even in the slightest that it 'removed' her dwarfism. 2B. And it's my hope those 'currently' big in LPA reads this point of mine: I think as LPA grows and goes into the future, we're gonna have to expand our group's defintion of what is an LP, no joke, to something alng this line: " Anyone who is a dwarf, one at birth or no longer one now, but are ones nonetheless due to genetic and/or familial reasons. " I kid you not, because if we're the open minded, wide armed, all accepting and embracing group we pretend to be, we will have to and soon... actually. I know, I will:). And we will find those 5'5 " or taller now as REGULAR members too due to ELL in our midst, but who are still dwarfs nonetheless in their genetic makeup. And I'm sure, there will be splinter groups in LPA then like there are along height and condition lines now, but then it will prolly be the ELL vs. The Non-Ell LP's, and all of it will still be nonsense just as much as it is now. 3. And when says more or less, to get off our butts, I don't see it as Bill may have taken it, as not his or our doing enough with our lives for LPA, Disabled, College groups or not, but to stop our complaining, life is not that simple, where we lp's can just paint or brush stroke all ap's as feeling this way or that even when they do use the M word. Just in as much they can't or shouldn't paint or brush stroke all of as feeling the same, as evidence by moi... where I only feel as I do, no allegiances to anyone, small or tall. Just as my average sized dad would want me to be, a thinker for myself, because afterall, I am not just small but I am also a part of him (and everyone before him) as much as 's daughter is a part of her:). I think it's also because the negative thrives more than the positive anyway everyhere, be it in the national news or on here. Because what you'll never hear on here, or in the news sadly too:(, was the thousand times I simply called a man, just a man, not a small man, midget man, dwarf man, little man, just a man. But God forbid the one time we are called a midget something or other, we immediately come on here and say, " OMG, can you believe that the other day I was on the line at the supermarket and this lady behind me, said, " Excuse me short lady, but I was ahead of you! " lol How dare she?! Never in my life! haha Wow, is that how all Ap's see us?! So, due to the stupidity and ignorance of one we lay it on them all. And so in turn we do it just as much they do it to us, because the truth is we do it to each other. And thus, 'round goes the stupidity, out goes lucidity, incomes the emotion and round goes the commotion:P, on both sides to be honest. And what happens to the thousand times we are simply called men and women by AP's, a deafening silence appears on here as no one, other than me and maybe a few others, small and tall and who aren't afraid to be themselves they would as I just did:P. So,I think that's what meant when she said about getting off our butts, like move on you guys with the petty cr*p of what's said to you here and there. Now , where I think you are wrong or perhaps you're not aware, altho I dunno how you couldn't be:P by being part of this board. This is our place to vent, so to speak, to complain, and what have you. So, in a way, I see both Bill's and 's point, which to me neither are wrong nor right, but if there has to be a fall guy for the right side, OK, OK, I'll give in. haha I will be that fall guy! So, since you all know that I'm right now, would you all, small and tall get in line, ummm, in an orderly fashion too, with no biggies cutting in front of any smallies, haha, and bow down to me. Thanks;). haha luv, grady, a man:). Wow, I didn't say I was an M man, I can't believe that! Throw a stone at Grady, someone, anyone, we want him to call himself an M man, so as to prove our point that we're right and that he and all ap's are wrong! haha;)
Guest guest
Grady, as usual, buries his needles of wisdom in a haystack of verbiage. ;-) Kind of like eating a bowl of raisin bran, and you know there's one good raisin left in there somewhere, and you have to swallow the whole bowl to get to it. I think my major gripe against (and anyone on this list, sometimes even you, Grady) is when they come on here and complain about people complaining. Isn't that what this group is for? At least partially? I'm not advocating we call our congressman, and march in a fiery protest in the streets every time someone ignorantly, or even derisively, uses the word midget. As , Chass, Glenn and a few other more enlightened thinkers than I have said, societal change comes slowly, and we must choose our battles carefully. But let's not attack everyone who comes on here to vent about the " M " word. I won't weigh in on the ELL argument, other than to say it should be the choice of the person going through the procedure, and not the parents. I can honestly say a foot to my height or reach would be a benefit. But I'm not sure the benefit outweighs the cost nor the agony of the procedure (damn! I said I wasn't going to weigh in on this discussion). And I believe the LPA bylaws specifically state that people over 4'10 " are welcomed as members if they have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism. LP, AP, dwarf, midget, little people -- they're all just labels that fall away once you truly get to know someone. So perhaps our goal as LPs, or friends/relatives of LPs, is to get to know people more personally, so they see us as human, and give us the respect we deserve. (I'm on spring break, can't you tell? Too much time on my hands, I need to step away from the computer.) -Bill On 3/29/06, Grady <gradysir@...> wrote: > > All this talk about the M word makes me think:p > > Now if Midget is derived from Midge, meaning small bug, right? > > Then a smidge which also means small, really small, is that just a > smaller bug yet or a smaller midget? > > Then smidge which really come from Smidgeon, is that just a PC way for > dwarf pidgeon instead? > > Then Titmouse, what is that n e way?
