Guest guest
Dear Addy and Doug: Thank you so much for sharing the news about Fran, even though it isn't the best of news... I will certainly keep her in my prayers. I had missed her participation for quite a while and was wondering what had happened with her. I do hope she will keep in touch and let us know how she is doing. She is such a valuable resource for this group, but she was also a very great encourager! I owe her a great deal as it was through her encouraging me to check out the medicare coverage that I was able to be approved for xolair and was able to afford it. Fran, I am praying for you right now as I type this and will continue to pray for God's healing hand of love to touch you each time God brings you to my mind. God's strength will sustain you and see you through this time. He has promised-- Adah From: pyle456 & lt;coachmac@... & gt; Subject: [ ] Please keep Fran in your prayers Date: Thursday, June 12, 2008, 5:37 AM Those of you who have been with us for a while know how much we all value the great info and support that Fran, our resident, allergic, retired physician has given all of us through this group. Doug and I are now asking you to provide Fran with that same strength and to keep her in your prayers. Fran has informed us that she has contracted a very rare form of leukemia. Like all forms of leukemia this is a disease of the immune system. While she and her physicians have no proof that her leukemia is caused by Xolair, since Xolair is a drug that is involved in immune system processes, they have decided to discontinue her Xolair treatment. We have encouraged Fran to seek support through our wonderful group as she works to beat leukemia. She has been a great source of support and information to the group, and we know she will continue to be. We know all of you will give her your great support and encouragement. In terms of the possible link between Xolair and leukemia, we remind you that this is just one case, and that there's no telling if Fran's leukemia is caused by Xolair. However, in the interest of caution, we would suggest that everyone share this incident with his/her own physician and make this information part of your risk/benefit analysis. Neither of us plan to discontinue our treatment, but we do plan on talking with our own doctors about Fran's diagnosis. In the meantime, please keep Fran in your prayers and positive thoughts! Guest guest
To Fran....five years ago my wife developed and fought non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has been in remission for almost four years after becoming chemo resistant. I hope you can find the strength and good fortune to fight your battle the way she did. Best Wishes! Guest guest
Sending a special message board prayer & care package here to Fran. It is totally unfair that this has happened to you. Please use every resource to support you and give you strength and help you to find good moments even in this challenge. You have a right to the best of life. Re continuing on Xolair ... as has been pointed out, those of us with severe allergies have complex immune systems and we never really know for sure what diseases will occur because of it. I also intend to continue Xolair but will ask my doc if there's some sort of relatively simple test(s) that can be run periodically to see if anything appears to be " off " anywhere. I'd be interested in learning what others hear from their docs. There is so much that goes into what we are - genetics, environment, and some factors we don't even know about now. So, for the moment I'm glad to have fewer sinus headaches and fewer severe asthma attacks. Bless us all! > > Those of you who have been with us for a while know how much we all > value the great info and support that Fran, our resident, allergic, > retired physician has given all of us through this group.
