Guest guest
Those of you who have been with us for a while know how much we all value the great info and support that Fran, our resident, allergic, retired physician has given all of us through this group. Doug and I are now asking you to provide Fran with that same strength and to keep her in your prayers. Fran has informed us that she has contracted a very rare form of leukemia. Like all forms of leukemia this is a disease of the immune system. While she and her physicians have no proof that her leukemia is caused by Xolair, since Xolair is a drug that is involved in immune system processes, they have decided to discontinue her Xolair treatment. We have encouraged Fran to seek support through our wonderful group as she works to beat leukemia. She has been a great source of support and information to the group, and we know she will continue to be. We know all of you will give her your great support and encouragement. In terms of the possible link between Xolair and leukemia, we remind you that this is just one case, and that there's no telling if Fran's leukemia is caused by Xolair. However, in the interest of caution, we would suggest that everyone share this incident with his/her own physician and make this information part of your risk/benefit analysis. Neither of us plan to discontinue our treatment, but we do plan on talking with our own doctors about Fran's diagnosis. In the meantime, please keep Fran in your prayers and positive thoughts!
