Guest guest
Hi! This is not a question directly related to xolair but I am hoping Doug will permit it!! My mom was put on 50 mg pred for radiation pneumonitis (she has lung cancer). After a few days she began complaining of feeling all " fuzz brained " and out of it and unable to concentrate. Of course, when she told her nurse, this won her a CT head to rule out mets to the brain, freaking me out to no end. The scan is Friday. I feel all out of it when on high dose pred. I am wondering if anyone else has similar symptoms. This evil candy does wreck havoc!! (I dont really think she has mets but the whole thing makes me so anxious....does wonders for my own asthma!) __________________________________________________________________ Canada Toolbar: Search from anywhere on the web, and bookmark your favourite sites. Guest guest
Thus the reason I am so glad the xolair has worked for me. I was having some sob last week when I went in for my shot and the nurse was concerned because my pft was much lower than average. So....she gave me a packet of pred. and said to take it only if I started using my inhaler too often--more than four times in a day. Well, I made it without the pred. The mountain cedar has been really high here, so that was giving me a little trouble. When I have been on heavy doses of pred., I would sometimes feel like I was out of touch with reality...I was there...but I wasn't there! I could still function, but it really played with my brain. It also played with my emotions and I found my temper fuse was very short. Knowing this, I worked very hard mentally to stay on top of things when I was on it. But it was hard. Hope your Mom does okay and that it is only the pred that is making her feel that way. It's a shame there are so many negative side effects with the pred since it does so much good. Guest guest
I second everything Adah said. When I have to increase my dose of Prednisone my wife wants to run, run like the wind. She tells me to write things down that I need to remember and her favorite saying becomes, " I know it's the Prednisone talking dear " , I just love that woman for taking care of me! I'm normally pretty good when I stay on my daily dose of 20 mg a day, but I've been on that dose for years. Guest guest
This is why I refuse to take more than 40mg - I don't see enough of a benefit on more than 40mg to make it worth the fuzzies and the crazies that I get on larger doses. I just neb more and add more inhaled steroids. Addy WWWHHHHAAATTTTTTT mood swings???!!!!!!!!!!! > > From: <carrie72583@...> > Subject: [ ] fuzz brained on pred? > " Xolair " < > > Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 9:53 AM > > > > > > > Hi! > > This is not a question directly related to xolair but I am hoping Doug > will permit it!! Guest guest
Thanks, . What I have really appreciated about this group is that others experience what I have and it keeps me from thinking I was losing my mind. I also appreciate my husband who put up with me during the years I was on so much prednisone. At times he got a little frustrated until I would remind him I was on prednisone. He really has taken care of me and still does, even though I haven't had to take any prednisone for three years this month!
