Mixing Xolair

Hello Everybody,

I have been on X for about 3 yrs. (375mg/2wks) and because my

pulmo/ allergist who prescribes it is far away (about 1.5 hrs), my PCP

has been the one mixing/ administering my X for 3 yrs. I am changing

PCP's (for a variety of reasons) but NOT changing my pulmo/ allergist.

So basically, my pulmo/ allergist is still prescribing the X, but I am

changing who gives it to me. My pulmo/allergist won't let me

self-inject (due to fear of a rxn) but said 'sure' when I asked him

last week if with this new MD, I am transferring to if I can receive

the X at my house, mix it, and then bring the X with me when I go for

my appt.

It is actually going to be easier for all involved I think. My

pulmo/ allergist said that he likes the fact that he knows that I'll

be doing the mixing (like he knows I'll do it correctly, and it won't

be some random person in my new MD's office mixing it). Knowing that

I'll be mixing it eases my mind somewhat (I know that my new MD's

office can't 'forget' to mix it (which has happened many times to

me)). It also eliminates a 'step' for my new MD's office. So it's a

win, win, win situation! The only 'thing' is that my pulmo says the X

has to stay cool and out of the sun-light in transport after I mix it,

so I have a cooler-bag thing that the X is going to in. My question

is, does anyone else mix then bring their Xolair? I don't think so (at

least I don't remember - who knows) but I was just wondering how its

worked for anyone else doing it this way.

Thanks,

Meagan
