Guest guest
This is indeed good news! I just want to add that before I even knew that I had BPES (just discovered this through this website this year at age 50), my husband and I went through egg donation IVF as we tried to get pregnant in my early thirties, and after I had been diagnosed with premature menopause. I was ONLY unsuccessful because I also had a further complication of a scarred uterus due to my mother taking the drug abbreviated as DES that was being widely prescribed at the time my parents were trying to conceive me (late 1950's) for women who were having difficulty carrying pregnancies to term. One of the after affects to daughters (sons were not affected for some reason) born to women who took this drug was a scarred uterus. So, although my husband's sperm and the donor eggs were able to create embryos, they were unable to implant in my uterus due to the scarring. I did get pregnant once but it was ectopic and had to be removed. All of this to say to those women out there with Type I BPES, like me -- KEEP THE FAITH, if you wish to become pregnant! There are more and more women willing to donate their eggs to couples such as us. Please extend my congratulations to the blessed parents to be, Shireen! I will pray for a beautiful baby to join their family soon! Fondly, Dannah Oregon, USA > > Dear all > > One of the members of the group has written to me to tell me of her good > news. Guest guest
Shireen, You have truly sent on very hopeful news to many members of this group with your most recent sharing of the IVF news. My daughter with BPES has blessed us in so many ways but recently has been concerned regarding her own potential future fertility issues. IVF was one of her hopes in the event that she will not be able to conceive when that magical time is right for her and knowing that it has been a success for another woman with BPES keeps her future dreams of having children alive. Blessed holiday season to you and yours. USAShireen Mohandes <shireen@...> wrote: Dear all One of the members of the group has written to me to tell me of her good news. She is has Type 1 BPES, and has managed to become pregnant from egg donation IVF. She thought that people would like to know of her success. And she asked me to pass this on. Just to add – I spoke with one of the members of this group who is a doctor and she told me that women who have Type 1 BPES and no other complications would – in general – expect the same success rate as any other woman who is seeking to get pregnant by egg donation IVF. This is not to be confused with Type 1 women who wish to be pregnant with their own eggs, via IVF. (sorry if that was clumsy English). Take care Shireen Mohandes London, England Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I learned from SPOC (they changed their name to something that eludes me at the moment) yesterday that I qualify for free Xolair for up to a year. In the meantime, I am still fighting BCBS because I meet all of the qualifications for taking Xolair. I thought I hadn't been on Singulair for 90 days, which is one of the requirements, but after a trip to my allergists office I now see that I took it for 90 days back in 2001 so that was the only base I didn't think I had covered. I'll be filing the rest of my paperwork with BCBS on Monday and if they deny again it's off to the state and possibly to court. Thankfully, I will not be w/o Xolair during this battle. Thank you Genentech!!
Guest guest
Congrats ! I know the insurance battles can be frightening. You also may want to call your congressman or woman and Senators and alert them of your situation. I would also have your doctor send a letter to the Medical Director to alert him/her the hoops you are having to jump through for the renewal. Also have your doctor state the consequences and costs of you from not being on Xolair and denying care.
