Guest guest
While it is normally not the practice of this group to discuss drugs other than Xolair, I wanted to make sure you are all aware that the FDA is considering taking long acting beta agonists (SP????) off the market. LABAs such as Serevent are found in Symbicort and Advair. There's some discussion about requiring LABAs be in conjunction with an inhaled corticosteroid, as they are in Symbicort and Advair. The advisory panel has weighed in and recommended the FDA NOT get rid of LABAs due to benefits vastly outweighing the risks. Panel also said risks can be very well mediated through patient education and appropriate use. It's raining today; I have " double " dark circles and a huge headache. Did anyone see the holiday episode of House with the patient who was misusing her inhaler? Jeff (hubby) saw the commercial and made sure I saw it b/c he thought it was so funny. I thought it was extremely funny, but I was sure to tell him that people do really misuse their inhalers if not instructed properly.
