Guest guest
do they have them inside? Our store has them outside at one door, but we have the option of going in the other door and avoiding the trees. We have had one real tree in the last thirty or so years and before we brought it in the house, my husband hosed it down twice and then we took it out the Saturday after that Christmas. My allergist said it was the dust and all of the other stuff in the air that collected on them outside that was such a problem. My son and I fared fairly well that year, but that was the end of real Christmas trees.....no more after that! And I agree with you about the Mall. Fortunately we now have quite a number of open malls--the businesses all open to the outside, so you can pick and choose which one you wish to go in! Trust you are feeling better. Weren't you having trouble getting approval again for your xolair? Or do I have you confused with one of the other members? I have been getting my shot every six weeks and so far it has worked out okay, although I do have days of sob where I don't get quite as much done. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Adah From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Subject: [ ] why do they have to sell Xmas trees Date: Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 5:31 AM at the grocery store? I can choose to avoid the mall, with all the phony holiday scents and people trying to spray stuff on you every 10 feet, but I cannot avoid the grocery store. Guest guest
The trees are outside. I guess I'm feeling extra " threatened " b/c it was me having problems with reauthorization. My Xolair arrived today!! Guest guest
I am so glad you got your xolair! I know that even if the trees are outside the pollen still fills the air and it is hard if you have to walk by them to get into the store..... Hope the xolair helps again in quick fashion! Happy Thanksgiving. Adah From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Subject: [ ] Re: why do they have to sell Xmas trees Date: Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 6:28 PM The trees are outside. Guest guest
I know what you mean. Everywhere I go seems to have bags and bags of scented pine cones. Those evil little things are going to be the death of me! I guess we're just suppposed to stay home until January. Bah humbug, > > at the grocery store? Guest guest
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Along the lines of strong scents/smells that cause immediate problems for asthmatics, did anyone see the Internet article where a Florida worker is being allowed to bring suit against a co-worker for wearing strong perfume in the work place? It didn't say too much except that the judge was allowing the suit! Maybe that will help open the eyes of the more of the public to the problems people have with scents, including cigarette smoke. Hope the holidays go well for all of you..... Adah From: <cleptisvirgo@...> Subject: [ ] Re: why do they have to sell Xmas trees Date: Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 8:20 AM I know what you mean. Guest guest
It has never ceased to amaze me that many of the same people that decry cigarette smell, and other scents, etc that bothers them, burns incense and dumps cologne and perfume on themselves by the cupful because it " smells good " and certainly no one else would complain about my expensive $2.98 cologne. You should be sensitive but I do not have too be. Do as I say, not as I do. Guest guest
Here's a pathetic one for ya. November of 2004 I had an allergic reaction to " something " , suffered anaphalaxia ( sp?) and went in to respiratory failure. While I was in ICU recovering an RT came into give me a Xopenex treatment. This guy REEKED from either cologne, aftershave, or deodorant . I told him he needed to find someone else to give me my treatments because what ever he had on was totally bothering me and it was defeating the purpose of my treatment. This idiot then said... " so what I need to not wear the stuff! " I was like HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly what kind of patients are you supposed to be treating again?! Up side of that whole mess was that I finally had given the insurance company a " valid reason " for me to start taking Xolair! More so because I had stuck them with a $40k bill! > > From: <cleptisvirgo> > Subject: [ ] Re: why do they have to sell Xmas trees > > Date: Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 8:20 AM > > I know what you mean. Guest guest
I haven't seen that!! If they are at the point where the " judge is allowing " the suit to continue, that should mean that they've gotten past the initial motions to dismiss which suggests any or all of the following: 1) allergic worker had notified co-worker of allergies 2) allergic worker has documentation in writing 3) co-worker repeatedly did it anyway 4) allergic worker had reaction at work 5) supervisors...what did they do? suit is just against the co-worker. Now I'm curious. I'll look it up. Addy Group co-owner > > > > at the grocery store? Guest guest
THe link I found says a Detroit city employee is suing the city, and that the judge found the suit may have merit under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Guest guest
I'll see if I can find it again, too. I believe that the co-worker had been notified several times, had taken the " plug-in scented thing " out, but continued to wear heavy scented perfume, and after being notified again, the allergic person had filed suit. The article didn't reveal much more except that the judge was allowing the suit to go to court. I could wish that it would make some big headlines as a message to all wearers of heavy perfume! Guest guest
I believe that is the one I had seen, but I thought it was a suit against the co-worker, but I guess if the supervisor did nothing, then the suit could be against the employer, i.e. the city of Detroit for not providing for a person with a disability. I should go back and read it again. At least I think this gives hope to those of us bothered by strong scents--of any kind! Guest guest
I also found the one in Detroit which said that as of May, 2008, trial was still pending, but I didn't find the article I saw yesterday.....It seems to have disappeared...I'm probably not putting in the right words to search for it.
