Guest guest
Do any of y'all use this? What is it? My pulmo just prescribed it for me. I am having my usual late March early April spring flare. I called this morning and said, " I'm already taking Advair 500, pulmicort, guifanesin, decongestant, an anticholinergic, flonase, xopenex by nebullizer and by inhaler, and 20mg pred. I'm not taking any more pills. Do something. " Yes, I know, I didn't leave him a lot of options. So mucomyst is the first shot over the bow. I've never heard of it and I thought I knew all this stuff. It is very old school - glass vial with one of those old silver metal pull tops. Guest guest
Mucomyst added to nebulizer treatments works to break up the bonds of mucus to " thin them out to make it easier to cough up. Warning esp with asthmatics that if there is alot of secretions please take it during a time that you will be awake as with the thining of secretions it feels like you have alot more secretions and you can get exhausted by coughing and could end up with bronchospasm. usually the vials come with 4 ml I would start with 2ml and see how it works for you. I am a respiratory therapist and asthmatic. Good Luck and keep us informed.
