Guest guest
Welcome to the group! I've been in the same boat you're in. Xolair has helped what I call my " allergic sinus disease " immensely. I used to get 9-10 episodes a year, all of which would require antibiotics and prednisone. I saw three different ENTs, all of whom confirmed that my sinus issues were allergic, and t hat they couldn't do anything for me. I've been on Xolair for 5.5 years. Now I " m down to about three major episodes a year. The near daily sinus headaches now come about three times a month, usually accompanied by weather issues. I hope you see a lot of improvement with Xolair. Please keep us posted. Addy Group co-owner > > I just had my first Xolair shot and would like to hear if it has helped any one's sinusitis. It appears that allergic sinusitis is the cause of my asthma flaring up. My total IgE level has been over 2,000 for at least a year and I have lost my sense of smell. My asthma has been much better recently but only Prednasone has helped my smell return. I don't want to keep taking that. And I'm trying to avoid surgery. Any experience or advice would be appreciated. > > Meri >
Guest guest
i have a similar story to you and addy - sinuses, mainly caused by allergies. i'd pretty much go from one infection to the next. there were times i couldn't wean off the prednisone before having to be back on it for sinus issues. i've been on xolair for a while (5.5 years - wow!) and i'm much better. i still get sinus infections, but not nearly at the rate i had been. overall, even hte headaches are better good luck. keep us posted! > > I just had my first Xolair shot and would like to hear if it has helped any one's sinusitis. Guest guest
I am getting three shots twice a month. Sounds like that is more than anyone else and I only weigh 108lbs. Does that sound weird to anyone? My total IgE was just measured at 2,156 which is what they used for deciding how much to give me. It had been 2,822 last August. > > > From: heather <heaven1975@...> > Subject: [ ] Re: Xolair for sinusitis > > Date: Thursday, May 21, 2009, 7:23 AM > > > > > > > > > > i have a similar story to you and addy - sinuses, mainly caused by allergies. i'd pretty much go from one infection to the next. there were times i couldn't wean off the prednisone before having to be back on it for sinus issues. i've been on xolair for a while (5.5 years - wow!) and i'm much better. i still get sinus infections, but not nearly at the rate i had been. overall, even hte headaches are better > > good luck. keep us posted! > > --- In , " prankstermeri " <prankstermeri@ ...> wrote: > > > > I just had my first Xolair shot and would like to hear if it has helped any one's sinusitis. Guest guest
A bunch of us get 3 shots twice a month. I know I do; Doug, the group's founder does as well. Your IgE is really high, that's why they've set your dosage so high. IgE scores can vary widely, but each person usually has a certain range. I'm guessing yours is probably between 2,000 and 3,000. All my IgE scores have been between 500 and 1,000. Good luck, and keep us posted, Addy Group co-owner > > > > > > From: heather <heaven1975@> > > Subject: [ ] Re: Xolair for sinusitis > > > > Date: Thursday, May 21, 2009, 7:23 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i have a similar story to you and addy - sinuses, mainly caused by allergies. i'd pretty much go from one infection to the next. there were times i couldn't wean off the prednisone before having to be back on it for sinus issues. i've been on xolair for a while (5.5 years - wow!) and i'm much better. i still get sinus infections, but not nearly at the rate i had been. overall, even hte headaches are better > > > > good luck. keep us posted! > > > > --- In , " prankstermeri " <prankstermeri@ ...> wrote: > > > > > > I just had my first Xolair shot and would like to hear if it has helped any one's sinusitis.
