Hi, I get 375 mg every two weeks - so far no bad reactions and I have been on it

for two years as of Feb 2009. What has major league improved are the chronic

sinus infections. The asthma symptoms are eased but by no means gone - I can't

even think of going into a public place that has carpeting - and I bought a

newer car last March and I can't drive it more than about 20 minutes without

having a major asthma attack - I have had filters changed and send major amounts

of disinfectant spray to circulate throughout the climate control system -

nothing works. I go grocery shopping but from time to time have had to leave

the cart in the aisle and walk out of the store. My IgE levels are around 6,000

+/- 1,000.

Subject: [ ] Bad anxiety reaction to Xolair--anyone else?

Hello. I just got my first injections of Xolair last Thursday. I got the max,

375 mg (came in three shots). At first, I felt okay. I got a little shaky a

bit later. About nine hours later, I had terrible heartburn and my throat felt

funny, as did my tongue--they mainly felt burned. As the days went by, I began

to get anxiety more and more, until finally, Easter night, my bp was high, as

was my heart rate. I was taken to the hospital. I had not slept much in three

nights, either. By the next morning, in the hospital ER, I was so anxious, I

was pacing. My entire insides felt as though I had an earthquake going in,

especially in my legs, stomach and chest. I was given Benadryl, nothing.

Atarax twice, nothing. Finally, Valium made me sleep for 12 hours. I'm now on

Klonopin, which is causing anxiety and itching. I was taken off of my Allegra,

which I usually tolerate well, because I now don't tolerate it (causes anxiety).

My doctor told me it

was a reaction to too much Xolair, that my body is so sensitive right now that

I can't handle too high of a dose. I am to work with the anti-anxiety meds to

keep me as calm as possible until the Xolair is out of my system, then we're to

try again at a much smaller dose.

Anyone else do this or heard of it? If so, how did the smaller dose go for you

or for whomever you heard of?

Thank you.

Anne,

For most of us, Xolair does not take away ALL our asthma symptoms.

I still have to use inhaled meds to keep me open.

Xolair has completely gotten me off of Prednisone and 3 other drugs. All the

horrible, horrible, horrible (did I mention horrible?) side effects of

Prednisone and hospital ER visits are now over and I now have my life back.

Doug :)

New cars are terrible with outgassing. The upholstery, carpet, and all molded

pieces in it give off toxic fumes. Heat speeds the process, which is why cars

can get so disgusting when parked in the sun.

Be sure to air it out well before you get in. If you can drive with the windows

down, it may help. Unless you're in high traffic areas where you'll be subjected

to car exhaust.

The auto industry is well aware of the dangers this poses, but won't do anything

about it until the government tells them they have to. Using less toxic

materials would, of course, be best. There is also a process where the parts are

exposed to intense heat, then rapidly aired, that gets a lot of it out.

An older car might not get the same milage, but it would be easier on your

lungs.

Good luck.

PS Today is my 20th wedding anniversary.

irritants. i just bought a car myself and we air it on sunny days.  i also have

my husband put baking soda in the carpet and then vaccum as this helps absorb

the odors.  we also cleaned the seats with a mixture of baking soda and water.

do you use natural unscented cleaners at home?  and no plug ins i hope.
