Guest guest
I'm giving allergy shots one last try in hopes that the Xolair is enough to fend off the major reactions I have had the previous 3 times I've tried over the last 25-30 years and I might actually get some benefit from them. Has anyone else had success with this? I've had about 4 sets (3 shots weekly) so far and with the exception of one week, my allergies have been completely nuts! It's like pre-Xolair, mid-Spring all over again. I'm sneezing all the time, my eyes itch constantly, I'm taking all my normal meds (which I had selectively stopped taking some of since the Xolair had helped so much) and still need multiple Benadryl's to function even when I'm indoors. This week in particular it's been horrid and even after getting my Xolair, my asthma is flaring on a daily basis. Other than mid-Spring and early fall I don't usually have asthma flares (on Xolair) unless I'm late getting my shots. I'm almost positive it's the allergy shots causing the increased symptoms but I want to give it a fair shot one last time. The upside is that my skin is actually starting to look normal again, moderate flaking, less generalized itchiness, etc. My question after all of this is...for anyone that's attempted allergy shots again while on Xolair, how long did/would you give it before throwing in the towel and admitting defeat? I even went so far as to call my mom and make sure my memory wasn't off, but she confirmed that this time of year I wasn't usually miserable from allergies pre-Xolair. Guest guest
I can't remember anyone posting to this board that they started allergy shots again after being on Xolair. We do have members who have been continuing their allergy shots. I discontinued immunotherapy once Xolair started working. How were you doing generally prior to starting the allergy shots a few weeks ago? Was Xolair not helping sufficiently? I'm surprised your doctor let you try allergy shots again given your previous reactions. Guest guest
The Xolair has done wonders for my asthma and my allergies are improved but by no means " good " ...xolair has allowed me to function without the additional 25-50mg of benadryl every few hours in addition to everything else I take on a regular basis. > > > > I'm giving allergy shots one last try in hopes that the Xolair is enough to fend off the major reactions I have had the previous 3 times I've tried over the last 25-30 years and I might actually get some benefit from them.
