I am suspecting the evil Ragweed and Ozone here in TX.

NO NO NO I have nothing scented in this house.

However I did just return from a 2000 mile round trip where I stayed in hotels

when at the Mayo Clinic and on the ride up and back.

The last night on the road which was Wednesday, yes, they did Fabreeze the

rooms.  (It was the best room which I could find.

Also, I had Nissen Fundoplication at the Mayo Clinic in late May and have not

recovered as I am still having to puree my foods at almost the 2 month mark.  I

am not getting good nutrition eating this way, can't take my vitaimins as I am

accustomed to, and am weak from losing 20 pounds in two months.

We are not having rain here at all...I wish it would rain a bit to clear out the

air.

I have about 2 bad episodes a year, even with the Xolair. Usually during fall

rainy season and then again late Feb/early March with the spring pollen here.

Leigh, has it been raining a lot where you are? Are you using febreeze or

anything new? (I know, you're not, but I gotta ask.)

I hope you figure out what it is and feel better soon.

The only thing I have seen on the pollen report here in South Texas has been

mold!  I suspect that with no rain, the dust in the air hasn't helped.  And on

the weather today I heard the meterologist say that we had smoke from the fires

in Africa????  At any rate, we could surely use rain, rain, rain!

Leigh, I do hope you begin to get better......

We recently came out of a drought here in Georgia. It is so difficult for those

of us with Samter's Triad and other respitory diseases.

Adah,

Thank you.

Yes we are getting Saharan Dust.  I noticed this on the ozone air quality

reports and I wondered if it were

some unusual scientific term but to my amazement Saharan Dust is from the

Sahara.  It only takes about 3

days for things in the air in Africa to travel to Dallas.  Yes, Ragweed is out.

My husband is very allergic to it

and he has been making his Ragweed sounds for about a week or so.  I think it

blows up from Mexico, etc. and

heck why not add S. America as well.

I wish it would rain for 15 minutes everyday to clean out the air.

Leigh

The drought or the rain or both?  I am sorry I don't know what Samter's triad

is.  I remember having heard the expression before.  I know both the drought and

the rain can be hard on me, but at least the rain usually washes some of the

pollen and dust from the air--that is unless the rain is followed by a west

Texas dust storm, which happens in the Fall at times.

Yep....at least that is what my allergist told me years ago.  I mentioned moving

to Arizona and he said that after two years my allergies would return...don't

know what study he was quoting--probably something he heard or read in Medical

school :-)

We got an over abundance of rain here in May and June. Now it's hot, humid and

they have a burn and watering ban. My asthma? It's the same all year.

Every place we have moved the locals say " ohhh this is the worst place for

asthma and allergies. " I guess no place is good for us.

I'd herd the same, that allergies will follow us wherever we move.  I wa born

and raised in El Paso, TX.  Allergy shots for more years than I care to recall.

In my early 30's I moved to Denver, CO.  No significant problems for about 3

years.  I then moved to Alaska.  I am not quite sure why, but after 15 years

here I've not developed the problems I did in TX, CO or 2 years in SC.  There

are a lot of folks here who do have allergy problems, especially to cooton

wood.  Odd as it sounds, dust is a big issue as well.  The fine rock dust

created in glaciers is eventually deposited, dries out and then gets blown by

the wind.  In the winter we seal our homes as tighly as we can.  The nice warm

air stays in and the cold stays out.  Sadly, mold likes the nice warm air.  I've

had mold build up on outside walls behind furniture and in closets, anyplace

where the air does not move and the moisture can build.  I've heard that ionic

type of air

cleaners will kill the spores.  Anyone have info on how well these work?  How

about hepa air filters, what kind of results have you folks had?

It takes about 2 years to develop new sensitivities after you move.

Ionic filters generate ozone which is not good.

You need to do a good clean up of your home.  CLOSETS by their nature have ideal

conditions for the breeding of mold, etc.  You can google the types of cleaners

which are best.  I have read that bleach does not kill all parts of thre mold.
