Guest guest
I am suspecting the evil Ragweed and Ozone here in TX. NO NO NO I have nothing scented in this house. However I did just return from a 2000 mile round trip where I stayed in hotels when at the Mayo Clinic and on the ride up and back. The last night on the road which was Wednesday, yes, they did Fabreeze the rooms. (It was the best room which I could find. Also, I had Nissen Fundoplication at the Mayo Clinic in late May and have not recovered as I am still having to puree my foods at almost the 2 month mark. I am not getting good nutrition eating this way, can't take my vitaimins as I am accustomed to, and am weak from losing 20 pounds in two months. We are not having rain here at all...I wish it would rain a bit to clear out the air. ________________________________ From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 7:54:55 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Anyone ever exerperience the return of severe asthma and itchiness? Guest guest
The only thing I have seen on the pollen report here in South Texas has been mold! I suspect that with no rain, the dust in the air hasn't helped. And on the weather today I heard the meterologist say that we had smoke from the fires in Africa???? At any rate, we could surely use rain, rain, rain! Leigh, I do hope you begin to get better...... Guest guest
We recently came out of a drought here in Georgia. It is so difficult for those of us with Samter's Triad and other respitory diseases. Guest guest
Adah, Thank you. Yes we are getting Saharan Dust. I noticed this on the ozone air quality reports and I wondered if it were some unusual scientific term but to my amazement Saharan Dust is from the Sahara. It only takes about 3 days for things in the air in Africa to travel to Dallas. Yes, Ragweed is out. My husband is very allergic to it and he has been making his Ragweed sounds for about a week or so. I think it blows up from Mexico, etc. and heck why not add S. America as well. I wish it would rain for 15 minutes everyday to clean out the air. Guest guest
The drought or the rain or both? I am sorry I don't know what Samter's triad is. I remember having heard the expression before. I know both the drought and the rain can be hard on me, but at least the rain usually washes some of the pollen and dust from the air--that is unless the rain is followed by a west Texas dust storm, which happens in the Fall at times. Guest guest
Yep....at least that is what my allergist told me years ago. I mentioned moving to Arizona and he said that after two years my allergies would return...don't know what study he was quoting--probably something he heard or read in Medical school :-) From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Anyone ever exerperience the return of severe asthma and itchiness? Date: Monday, July 13, 2009, 7:41 AM We got an over abundance of rain here in May and June. Now it's hot, humid and they have a burn and watering ban. My asthma? It's the same all year. Every place we have moved the locals say " ohhh this is the worst place for asthma and allergies. " I guess no place is good for us. Guest guest
I'd herd the same, that allergies will follow us wherever we move. I wa born and raised in El Paso, TX. Allergy shots for more years than I care to recall. In my early 30's I moved to Denver, CO. No significant problems for about 3 years. I then moved to Alaska. I am not quite sure why, but after 15 years here I've not developed the problems I did in TX, CO or 2 years in SC. There are a lot of folks here who do have allergy problems, especially to cooton wood. Odd as it sounds, dust is a big issue as well. The fine rock dust created in glaciers is eventually deposited, dries out and then gets blown by the wind. In the winter we seal our homes as tighly as we can. The nice warm air stays in and the cold stays out. Sadly, mold likes the nice warm air. I've had mold build up on outside walls behind furniture and in closets, anyplace where the air does not move and the moisture can build. I've heard that ionic type of air cleaners will kill the spores. Anyone have info on how well these work? How about hepa air filters, what kind of results have you folks had? Guest guest
It takes about 2 years to develop new sensitivities after you move. Ionic filters generate ozone which is not good. You need to do a good clean up of your home. CLOSETS by their nature have ideal conditions for the breeding of mold, etc. You can google the types of cleaners which are best. I have read that bleach does not kill all parts of thre mold. ________________________________ From: McBride <mike.dmcbride@...> Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 2:39:59 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Anyone ever exerperience the return of severe asthma and itchiness?
