It is a preventable and treatabledisease. Further, it does not cost a huge amount to fight it.We have been working with the Hedge Funds community in New York toestablish Malaria-Free Zones (MFZs) in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, andTanzania.Essentially, we select a village of 1,000 people which is fairlyisolated but accessible by road. We fumigate the village, usinglocally-available insecticides and then supply the villagers with freeinsecticide-treated bed nets and anti-malarial drugs. We usually workwith the local chief and the traditional village development councilto ensure sustainability of the project: That the bed nets are usedand not sold. Further, we initiate educational programs to elicittheir input in malaria-eradication.We have established three MFZs at Yawkoko (Ghana), Teacher Mante(Ghana) and Itu-Agon, Lagos (Nigeria). Guest guest
Happy Earth Day! As people with delicate lungs, we're in a unique position when it comes to educating those around us on Earth friendly cleaning methods. I hope all of you are using green products, I'm partial to the Next to Godliness brand, but there are plenty of others. Such as; Seventh Generation, Planet, and Earth Friendly. But my favorite cleaners are baking soda and vinegar. Baking soda is a wonderful scrubber, without that evil Comet smell. Vinegar has many uses. Did you know that it's a great deodorizing fabric softener? Just add it to the rinse cycle. It can even make diapers fresh! We all know how hard the scents and chemicals in traditional cleaners are on our lungs. The chemicals are also hard on all the things we use them on. They wear out our clothes sooner and they can leave nasty residues on our counters, carpets, dishes, bodies, etc.. They're hard on the plumbing. bad for fish and wildlife, they're poisoning our lakes and rivers. I could go on and on. Let's share our best green ideas and tips, let's take it easy on the Earth and ourselves, and let's spread the word! Go Green! PS Anyone who can get those evil plug-in " air fresheners " banished, will be my friend forever!
Guest guest
Vinegar is an irritant and may provoke coughing and bronchial hyperresponsiveness in patients with asthma. Be mindful of your ventilation before using. > > Happy Earth Day! > > As people with delicate lungs, we're in a unique position when it comes to educating those around us on Earth friendly cleaning methods.
