Guest guest
I think Amy (aka 's Mom) responded eloquently to the question about concerned outsiders attending conferences. I wasn't going to respond though until she was attacked. Joan Ablon and other professionals have attended conferences because they are professionals with credentials and specific academic, research or other projects that a dwarf-related, that should benefit the wider dwarf community in some way. AH friends and family members can attend conferences. Almost any large disability activist or academic conference that I've attended (when I was young and childless), has also had in attendance other adults with dwarfism that are interested in and/or working in the disability arena. I enjoyed the inter-disability camaraderie at these things, it was great. I mention that because it might be another avenue of involvement for someone who is a member of the disability community. I totally do appreciate the positive vibes from Que, but although I'd like to think of myself as kind of progressive, this is one area where I am going to be a stick-in-the-mud.
