Guest guest
I am very sympathetic, just remember, allot of people on this site have lost everything also, including their health. Sueing may or may not be possible. Home inspectors in this state have no liscening , so no proffesional organization to complain to, and useless as hell to sue, I looked into it when I bought my house and got a worthless home inspection. As Carl says, I would put all your money into stopping the water, it sounds like you need a good building engineer- the mold remediation you can't even think about till the water and moisture issue is totally resolved. Don't go crazy. One day this will all be over. Modex is peroxide and quats-very expensive- says it decontaminates mycotoxins but it does not- you can make it cheap yourself with Shock Wave and peroxide from the salon supply store. I sprayed it all over my new construction after they removed the moldy wood they tried to build my house with- spent about $100 in supplies.Ask if you need more info on it. -- In , " Rhonda " <rhondaleokitty@h...> wrote: > > - > I forgot I already put aristar on here. Guest guest
I went thru the which air purifier to buy thing myself. I ended up with two Hepa Hunter ones from Lowes and Allerair. Someone here posted that Whilpool Whisperer is good too. www.nationalallergy.com and www.allergybuyersclub.com you can see some and compare. Honeywell is suppose to be good also. IQ one is rated best on allergyclub site. www.airistar.com(think that it right) has a good one from what I have read and been told. I almost got that one. I decide multiple purifiers is best b/c one can't go thru walls and around corners etc. The Allerair 5000 is the one I got and prefilter est. last 2-3 months, carbon 2yrs and it's not the thin type carbon filter. You can read about it on www.mercantila.com. I run on 1 all the time and pretty quite but 2-3 is loud. The hepa filter est. last 5 years and that is what bought me but it has no monitor just estimated time. Not sure how easy filter change is until I change but was told not hard. Also this one has casters to roll around. The Hunters prefilter last 2000 hours and hepa 8000 hours estimated. Both models I have show monitors for filters. Last time I looked at Lowes they models had changed some so guess that is why I got mine on sale. Think about that if you order one online that isn't in stores around you that you will have to order replacement filters online also when needed. With the Hunters, I can just run to lowes and buy filters which I like. They also had universal precarbon filter at Lowes that was cheaper and you cut to fit and is the same thing as the namebrand charcoal prefilter. Universal $10 and namebrand $20 so saves me $10 on prefilters. Allerair is metal and doesn't have any VOC smells. Both the Hunters did smell but went away later. I run the Hunter's on 2 all the time and not real loud. Allerair on two sounds like a wind storm and not a smoothe sound. Been hearing an odd sound lately from Allerair and think it's time to change the prefilter so will see how technical that is. You can wash it but I'd rather have fresh new ones and ordered some. That noise may be an air exchange but not sure. Just seeing what gets on the charcoal prefilter of the Hunter's purifier tells me it's a good thing I have them now! Also, get a Merve 11 filter for your house! Rhonda > > > Hi! > I am looking for information on air purifiers as this is on my list for > my next purchase. I really need one for my allergies. Guest guest
Rhonda, You can turn the HEPAs on High when you are at work and turn them down when you are home. That way you get maximum effectiveness without the noise disturbance. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- > I went thru the which air purifier to buy thing myself. Guest guest
I would do that if I didn't have all the animals. It will spook them. The Hunter's maybe I can but not the Allerair. It make an uneven wind storm sound on 2. 1 is ok and more even. Rhonda > > > > > > > > > Hi! > > > I am looking for information on air purifiers as this is on my list > > for > > > my next purchase. Guest guest
i didnt know about the danger! just know i woke up with a spiting headache everytime i used the air purifier with the ozone thing. nne [] air purifiers Does anyone have any more info about the ozone danger in the air purifiers or explain to me how to find it.? This is the only info that I saved. I have a family member who has one that emits the ozone and they will not listen to me. Said they wanted to see some facts. Do I remember hearing about the brand Sharper Image having problems? Guest guest
Sue and nne, The facts against ozone is a " slam dunk " except for those that have been emotionally convinced otherwise. Lots of information. One resource is to search the archives of this group. Another is to Google " ozone + Alpine " for their lost lawsuit by the Federal Dept of Justice. Also the findings of California who just made these devices illegal! Not a negative recommendation, but illegal!!! Try the EPA report on air purifying devices that produce ozone at www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html or the American Lung Association listing of the Top Ten Ozone Studies at www.cleanairstandards.org/article/2007/08/743 or a National Inst of Health study at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/news/releases/2007/ozone.cfm There's much more. E-mail me privately and I'll send you some recent research that is even more astounding about the negative health effects of ozone. As for your family, point out to them that the ONLY positive information about ozone exposure of people comes from those who make and sell ozone producing equipment. The other distinction is ozone for treating water (hot tubs) is not the same as ozone that can be breathed. Guest guest
Yes I have several brands--all without ionizarion--and I prefer the alllerair brand. Have you tried Sinus Rinse? Also I have read that it is the preservatives in sprays such as Flonase which could possibly contribute to the symptoms which you describe. One thing I do is wash my bedding every other day and have my tile floors in here mopped almost daily and at least dust mopped. It really helps me. If you have any questions regarding air filters, let me know. Best, Leigh ________________________________ From: instdesgn1 <instdesgn1@...> Sent: Friday, April 17, 2009 12:13:07 PM Subject: [ ] Air Purifiers Does anyone have any experience with or recommendations re a room (esp. bedroom) air purifiers? I'm looking for the filter type, not the ion type. My infectious disease doc just suggested it. Even when I was on Xolair I still had to use all asthma meds so am looking (am off xolair now) for another means of controlling the allergies. Nasal sprays do not work - cause headaches, dryness, nosebleeds. Drives me crazy when docs keep prescribing that junk and then get annoyed when I tell them " no. " !!!!
