Guest guest
When I told my xolair nurse about my insurance change, that as far as I could read in the notice, I would be paying a rather hefty co-pay, and that on retirement income, I might not be able to continue my shots, she told me not to worry, that they had access to help for patients on xolair. It is from some foundation. Don't ask me the name, I don't remember. I do take my shots at a xolair research clinic, even though I am not part of the research. Also, the person who handles all of the insurance took the information I had received and promised to check into it for me to find out exactly what I will have to pay. My medicare won't change....it is what the supplemental insurance has been paying that will change. My nurse told me they would work with the insurance and that my doctor would fight for me if he had to. So, Doug, I, too, wish everyone had the doctor and nurse that I have. I won't go in for my 2009 shot until February, so I won't know for sure how much it will cost. From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> Subject: [ ] Insurance change. Re authorization process Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 8:25 PM December 22 I told my xolair nurse that my Rx insurance was changing January 1. I gave her my new Rx card and she took care of the rest. I got an email today from Medco telling me that my 3 months or Xolair is on the way and the 50.00 copay charged to my bank card. It SHOULD be this easy for everyone but unfortunately it isn't My doctor has 20 xolair patients so he hired one nurse to do everything. Getting patients certified, filing the insurance, ordering, mixing, setting appointments and giving the shots. She does it all and quite well too. I wish everyone in the group had such good medical professionals as my doctor and his xolair nurse. Doug Group founder
Guest guest
I've been blessed as well, although our practice doesn't have one nurse handling just Xolair (although they could!). I deal with the RN for my doc who is shared by two docs. I don't know how she does it. I have purposely worked very hard to develop a good relationship with her (she's nice and a hard worker anyway, so it's not hard on my part) and that has resulted in me getting very good service. Adah, when you have time, could you get the name of the foundation from your xolair nurse and maybe share with the group. I would encourage folks not to contact them directly - just to make sure their docs know about it and contact them. Addy > > From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> > Subject: [ ] Insurance change. Guest guest
I will ask her, but from the way she talked, it was maybe a foundation here in SA or maybe private help for this doctor's patients on xolair. I don't think it was something open to the public. I'll ask though the next time I am in. Maybe all of our Doctors or their financial person should be encouraged to research possible foundations that could give help to people who cannot afford the high end meds. I sometimes think that the help one gets depends on the doctor one has. From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Insurance change. Guest guest
If you will have medicare, and I assume and hope it will still be available, it reallys does a lot for people (at least right now). Be sure to research supplemental policies and groups like Secure Horizons, Humana Plus. Medicare will also send you material on all of your choices, but it is sometimes a little confusing to me. Maybe the cost of xolair will have come down, especially if the industry comes up with something similar but maybe better. Let's hope the med profession keeps on doing research on asthma and the drugs for treatment. From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Insurance change.
