Dave,

I have Anthem Blue Cross but the amount Xolair is covered is really dictated

by the employer. For me, I pay a $70 co-pay for 3 months of Xolair via

NextRx and then pay a $15 co-pay for seeing the doctor for a brief visit

before the injection.

I think someone else here has Anthem Blue Cross and pays a different amount.

My mom has had asthma for over a decade, she is 43 years old. Recently, a

pulmonary specialist told her that Xolair is basically her only option right

now, and next is chemo. We have been researching this drug and had a few

questions about it. I have been reading some of your experiences however I

realize that everyone reacts differently. The first question is 1.) Does

anyone have anthem blue cross? if so, do you know how much it covers?

2.) Does anyone know if there is any peanut relation in Xolair, mom is

severely allergic to peanuts.

3.) Has anyone experienced hair loss?

Any advice for her is very much appreciated!

God bless you all

Hi

You are a good son to take an interest and to do your research for your mom.

I think I have some hair loss but honestly it could be from anything.

Having said that, the doctors think my cilia may not be working properly anymore

and I am thinking that there may be a connection between xolair and the cilia

dysfunction.

Mine are being checked by electron microscope soon and I will post the result.

I am not understanding how chemo is the only other option. Call the

insurance company, they can tell you what they cover on her plan . Hair

loss is not something I have experienced. As far as peanuts contact the

company making xolair . Sharon

Dave,

I also have Anthem BCBS. I pay $150.00 copay every three months via

Caremark and self inject so there is no Dr visit associated with

Xolair injections.

I have AnthemBC. It does depend on your employer, BUT it also depends on the

State. I have it here in California, and there are two payments dependent on if

it is part of your pharmacy plan or your medical plan. If you can't self

injecct, it is covered under the former, and the cost is 20% of the cost of the

medicine.

No hair loss. No relation to peanut in the formulation of Xolair. That doesn't

mean that if allergic to peanuts you should eat them while on Xolair.
