Guest guest
My temperature was in the 96 ranges! I could never get it higher. That was a definite sign that I had a thyroid issue, but I didn't know it was Hashi's until 4 years after explant. Guest guest
Steph ~ It is normal to loose hair with the change of seasons, and also when you have anesthesia. So, I am sure you are having enough loss that it is scarey. Mine always fell out for about 8 weeks or so after surgery. Then as it grew back in, it looked like I had a mohawk til it got long enough to lay down then my hair looked much thicker. I always knew when I had the mohawk look that I would soon have hair with bounce and volumn again. Please dont worry, that in itself will stiffel things... Guest guest
Hi PH, If I could just ask you how much hair did you lose or how much of it was falling out? It seems lately when I brush my hair or run my hand through my hair a lot of it comes out. Thanks Steph > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Stephie, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Some women do have some hair loss after surgery - any kind > of > > > > > > > > > > surgery . . . as well as with implants. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > It should grow back as you begin feeling better. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How are you feeling today? . . . Guest guest
Hi Stephie, I've always had baby fine, whispy hair so even to lose a little felt like a lot. About a year before explant, my hair began losing its luster and every time I'd brush I'd have 10-20 strands on my shirt. Everywhere I'd go, people were picking strands off my shirt, coat. Same as you, if I'd run my hands through my hair, some would come out. My hair stylist says people lose 75-100 hairs a day and more with the change of the seasons. After explant surgery it was a lot worse but then stopped. I'd say I've lost about a third of my hair...no bald spots just a lot thinner but I can see where new growth is coming in. Just try to be patient. - PH > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Stephie, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Some women do have some hair loss after surgery - any > kind > > of > > > > > > > > > > > > surgery . . . as well as with implants. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > It should grow back as you begin feeling better. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How are you feeling today? . . . Guest guest
Thanks Dede. I hope that mine will grow back. Before explant it was falling out but it wasn't growing back. I hope after a couple of months it'll stop falling out and start re-growing! Guest guest
Thanks PH. I always had a lot of hair and it's just thinner than it was before. It worries me because before explant it would fall out without any regrowth at all. I'm hoping for it to stop falling out and then hopefully growing back again. I have an appointment with a naturopath tomorrow night. He said that he tests via serum IgG, IgM and IgA. Have you ever heard of that. I told him that I have a candida problem. He also does the hair analysis and saliva tests. He also takes my health insurance so I'm happy about that! I'm just afraid that it won't grow back. Guest guest
Not sure about dry skin, but hair loss is a symptom of poor circulation. Or at least my doctor notes the hair on my toes and comments about my having good circulation. O
Guest guest
Have heard of that before years ago when my doctor was checking my leg when it was swollen pretty bad. That was when they found the Lyme diagnosis. They had no idea why my leg was so swollen. Anyway, he checked my toes for hair and said about the circulation issue. I still had it then, that was back in 99. Will have to check out the ole toes later. Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I had a similar problem in the first couple of years that I was taking Gleevec. I had a very thin patch right in the front but only on one side. It was very bizarre. I never needed a wig and the hair loss did eventually subside (or maybe I just got used to it). One thing I would check out though is your thyroid and B12 level. Both of which could play a role in hair loss. Take care, Tracey dx Jan 2002 > > I have been on 400mg Gleevec since July 2006 and along with the joint/bone > pain, nausea, fatigue, I had noticed slight hair loss. Guest guest
Hi Barbara: I experienced hair loss from Gleevec several years ago. I started using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and it made a big difference. I have thick hair and like you said it was coming out all the time. I bought some hats because I thought everyone would notice. You can buy Nioxin at the beauty salon or online. It really helps. Guest guest
I have used Nioxin for several years. I use the shampoo and the scalp therapy. I had started losing my hair in the 3rd month of sprycel and (was not using the scalp therapy at the time) I once again added it to the reguime and the hair loss decrease. I have long hair so I also use the conditioned. I wouldn't leave home without it. Anita [ ] Hair loss Dear (Knotts), I bought a whole kit of Nioxin products from my hairdresser, but they had so many different things you had to do, I got tired of reading all the directions to see which I had to use before and after. Is that all you use, just the shampoo and conditioner? Then maybe I will try it again. I notice my son bought some from J. C. Penney. I'll have to put it on my list of supplies I need to get. Guest guest
Dear Lottie: I know Nioxin has a bunch of different products. I just use the shampoo and scalp therapy and it has worked so far. My hair is back to its noraml thickness. It does cost more than normal shampoos but to me it is worth it. I try to get it on sale or sometimes I buy it online with free shipping. Guest guest
a, Hon, I really feel for you. I now cut my hair shorter than I like it so that it doesn't look so thin. Trying to cover the back is a real time consuming pain. I spread it out the best I can and then spray it down. Like you my rheummy said it would correct itself over time. 17 months and counting. It's MTX that causes my hair loss. I guess it varies from person to person. I haven't heard the guys in the group comment much about this. Hope you have a good day. Guest guest
a, Thanks for the info on Nioxin. I just ordered some and was able to find a discount code for 5%. I used to love my hair. I would like to enjoy it again! Guest guest
a, Just to be on the safe side I would call the rheummy's ofc and ask to pick up a copy of your bloodwork. If you have a fax, that could work also. I don't like assuming when it comes to doctors. I know the lab my insurance requires my rheummy to send to has failed twice to send the results. This was not noticed until I asked about them. The pointing fingers is awful. Worse is, you are in the middle with no control over either but you are the one that suffers from it. My boss wears her hair cut like a man's and she loves it. It is so short that people have asked me about her sexual preference. Why! She is straight but why ask? Sorry you are having a bout with sleeping. I hope you get a better night of rest tonight. Guest guest
a, I don't know if you have posted before about Dave or if I just missed it. Guest guest
I haven't had any hair loss from Enbrel. I'm glad, since my hair is very fine and also thin.
