increased, I'm down to eating only a few foods and have been unable to go

outside (cold air) for more than minutes. Exercise it hurts to breath and have

hives that keep me awake at night. I feel like I'm falling apart since starting

xolair. I've never been this sick, ever.

I am so sorry you are worse.

Most of us have seen a great improvement but it took some us a little over a

year to see any results. Personally, I didn't see any for 12 months.

Hang in there. Trust your doctor's judgment. We all are pulling for you here.

It isn't the Xolair, so you should take comfort in that. I can speak from

personal experience that Xolair began to work for me almost immediately.

However, the more insidious parts of my atopy (my skin and sinuses) took about

9-12 months to start to taper down. While the IgE begins to get bound almost

immediately, it does take time to reverse what is for most of us, years of

inflammation. And, everyone is different as to how atopy effects them (I have

EE, skin atopy, sinusitis and asthma), but unlike many people, as an adult my

asthma was a smaller component of my atopic disorder. It might be for you that

you have gone through more allergen exposure at a time when you began Xolair, so

the drug is not as effective for you at this moment. Be patient and

vigilant....don't accept that the atopy begins and ends with Xolair.

Definitely tell your doctor what's happening. You might have another disease

process going on in addition to the asthma. Most of us have (or at least I do)

multiple diagnoses.

How do you do for the first few hours after the Xolair shots? Although it's

extremely rare, there are some people who react to Xolair. I had several

incidences of upper respiratory infections (cold/flu) while on Xolair which my

pulmo told me could be s side effect. On the other hand, w/o Xolair I had had

lengthy stretches of cold/flu also. I tended to feel tired and achy all over

but with the flu I couldn't do water exercise so that might have had something

to do with it.

It took several months (6 ?) of the highest dose before I noticed any asthma

improvement. It took 8 months before I finally noticed I didn't have to take

pseudoephedrine hardly at all (sinusitis). So, it might just take more time.

Even so, if you're getting worse you need some medical intervention. This has

been a really tough winter for the flu in some parts of the country - I had it

for 3 months. Be sure to take care of yourself.
