Guest guest
Hot cranberry juice with rum in it. Just heat the juice in the microwave like a cup of coffee and add a shot of rum. It's very soothing. Also, vibration on the sinus areas really helps speed things along. I have a novelty pen that vibrates when pressed to something. My pulmo thought it was really funny when I showed it to her. I swear it works. Sip enough spiked cranberry juice and you won't care that your family thinks you're weird for vibrating your face! Good luck and wishes for a speedy recovery. PS My husband says that super spicey food is the way to go. > > Good morning, > > Since it's off topic weekend and I have sinus infection, > I thought I'd ask anew what home remedies and palliative > care some of you are using when you have sinus infections > or episodes. Guest guest
I forgot to ask the doc about adding pulmicort to my sinus rinse. Everything else, except the cranberry juice and rum, I've tried. Thanks, everyone! Guest guest
Nothing like a " hot toddy! " Time to run down to the local liquor store for some rum! Warm & spicey foods help me too. Especially Chinese take out " Hot & Sour Soup " . But not to much as I also suffer from GERD that annoys the heck out of my asthma. Anyone else in that boat? ________________________________ From: Queen of the Universe <cleptisvirgo@...> Sent: Sun, October 11, 2009 2:11:12 AM Subject: [ ] Re: sinuses Hot cranberry juice with rum in it. Guest guest
Hot and sour soup is a good one for sinuses! Does anyone know how to make it? I tried once and it was dreadful. > > > > Good morning, > > > > Since it's off topic weekend and I have sinus infection, > > I thought I'd ask anew what home remedies and palliative > > care some of you are using when you have sinus infections > > or episodes. Guest guest
Yes, GERD is a bigger problem than my asthma. If I don't control the GERD, I cough.? Coughing stirs up the tightness and wheezing.? Other things also set off the asthma but not as often. The reason they've got me on the big meds is because I have aspergillus living in my lungs.? The wisdom is that since I'm allergic to the mold, the antifungal drip wouldn't work.? The Xolair keeps the IgE number down. -----Original Message----- From: K K <grneyyedlady@...> Sent: Sun, Oct 11, 2009 7:13 am Subject: Re: [ ] Re: sinuses Nothing like a " hot toddy! Guest guest
Yes, ABPA is what I have. Or, it has me.? When I tell people, they take a step back.? I have to tell them it's not contagious.? " Well, then how did you get it? " ? List of possibilities: -I worked at the Queen inside the former engine room. (The Jacques Cousteau Living Sea museum gift shop) That place has a special specific smell.? I mention it to anyone who worked there and they all say " Oh, yeah! " -I worked at CSU Long Beach in a room that had a leaky roof and rotting things from being wet. -I lived in a house that was close enough to the ocean to have sand in the backyard.? The paint in my room flaked? ?? because the walls were too moist.? Things in the back of the closets would mildew. -Since 1983, I tune and repair pianos. Every piano I come to, I clean with the vacuum cleaner.? Some have mildew. -Where I live now, there was a leak in the sprinkler system that made the back wall of our garage moist. For years. ? All my old piano parts in storage are yucky.? I've thrown a lot of it out. Aspergillus is used to ferment my favorite thing to drink - Tea.? Also it ferments Miso.? Aspergillus is everywhere.? There are many types and I haven't been told which one owns me.? So, KK, how long have you known you have ABPA? -----Original Message----- From: K K <grneyyedlady@...> Sent: Sun, Oct 11, 2009 3:10 pm Subject: Re: [ ] Re: sinuses ...do you also have ABPA? Guest guest
this isn't a home remedy, but... my ENT has me using a liquid lasix stuff (made by " mcguff compounding pharmacy service " - the dr has to fax them the scrip, then they call you and set it up) - 2 sprays daily -- i tell you -- it helped shrink the polyps. (and i've already had a few rounds of sinus surg, and they always grow back). it burns a bit when you spray it up there, but 20 seconds later, its ok. small price to pay to avoid surgery, in my opinion. heather > > > From: Magnuson <magnuson.mary@...> > Subject: Re: [ ] sinuses > > Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 8:56 PM > > > > > > > This stings a little but works for me - I use an empty nose spray bottle and fill it with hydrogen peroxide and spray it in my nose.
