Guest guest
I think that once or twice during the 3 shots every 2 weeks for 1-1/2 years that I injected myself that the needle actually slipped right back out of the fat !!! I immediately re-injected about an inch away and only lost a drop or two of the med. As for it running down your arm ... doesn't quite sound right. Perhaps the nurse (or whoever administered the Xolair) started depressing the plunger before fully injecting the needle into the fat. Or, perhaps the needle sort've slipped out like the 1 flukey time I had by myself. Could it have been alcohol running down your arm? It really shouldn't happen although I can allow for one or two flukes since I had it happen when injecting myself. The plunger should be pushed down very S-L-O-W-L-Y to avoid a reaction (i.e., pain) and it's quite necessary anyway as the Xolair is very thick. Perhaps the nurse pulled the needle out just as the last drop was going in. It depends on how much fluid is going down your arm. Also, was it bleeding? I think that's the reason why one immediately presses over the injection side with the cotton wipe - to keep the med from leaking back out. If it keeps happening it would be a good idea to bring it to the attention of the nurse or health care provider. --- In , " sweetliberty1776 " <laurie@...> wrote: > > Has any one had medicine leak down there arm when given the shot? Guest guest
there are times when i remove the needle and some of the xolair seeps out - maybe a drop or two (i know its xolair - its sticky like the xolair is). i mentioned it to my dr and she said that its probably not going into an area with enough fat (hard to believe i have areas without enough fat!). i know it never happens on my stomach and rarely on my thighs, but almost always on my arms. maybe try a different location? heather > > > > Has any one had medicine leak down there arm when given the shot?
