Are they checking to see what kind of flu it is?

The last time I had the flu it went pneumonia. Be careful and take

care of yourself.

Just saw this for today.  I'm guessing you didn't get to go to church??? Or did

you go ahead even with the stopped up ear?  That's what my daughter has had with

an ear infection and as I wrote in another post, she is going to an ENT

tomorrow.

Hope you get to feeling better....

Don't think it's pig flu. None has been reported in my area yet.

My temp hasn't gone over 100.5. Slept since Thursday morning except to check

email and the group. I have a completely colgged left ear but not even a hint of

asthma. Strange, very strange. Supposed to get my xolair tomorrow. I doubt it.

No, I didn't. The bad thing is that the pastor is gone out of town preaching a

revival and I was supposed to be in charge. One of my choir members took over.

Fever is gone so I am going back to work tomorow.

Hope you're feeling better, Doug.

It started hitting me yesterday. 100.4 temp, serious fatigue, mild muscle

aches, mild headache, sorta stiff neck, poor appetite but thank goodness no

diarrhea or vomiting. So it's mild. I guess all the meds I'm pumped up with

and 62 years of exposure to other bugs is keeping it at bay.

Mostly, I just lay in bed and watch the time go by. I do take the asthma meds

to keep the airways open.

Thanks! I went back to work yesterday. I still have a stopped up ear and lumpy

throat. My PCP has given me flonase. My fever never got over 101. It would

fluctuate from 98.1 to 100.5 mostly.

Get well soon and hope your asthma stays away like mine did :)\

An update: That flu I started with came in like a lamb and out like a lion, so

everyone beware. I'm quite sure it's the swine flu because I already have this

years seasonal flu vaccine and the swine flu is all over the place around where

I live.

Days 1 and 2 were mild.

Day 3 was getting bad so I called the family doctor and was told to stay home

and ride it out.

Day 4 was downright awful so I called my allergist (who also treats my asthma)

and was told to move up to 50/500 Advair from 50/250 and to double up on

Atrovent.

Day 5 the bug went deep into my lungs and left me gasping for air with my peak

flow down about 50%. I made a call again to my allergist who takes calls at home

and was told to take 30 mg of prednisone right away, which I keep handy, then

continue on a regular taper dose. As it always has done for me, the prednisone

worked it's magic and within 4 hours I was out for a short casual walk, and in

10 hours breathing was as good as ever, although I had coughing fits.

Day 6 - now I'm all hyped up on prednisone and I think the flu is mostly gone,

except for a productive cough. Life is good!
