What do > > y'all think? > Lot's of people make their own " natural " playdough- normally for 2 reasons- to save money and to create another " project " with the child. I would not add herbs and it will ruin the consistency and make the product go bad fast. I think if you were able to create a colored all natural playdough (using natural pigments that were really safe only) I think that might be attractive for people. Yes, you could certainly add some essential oils- Lavender would add a little calming aroma for children. Take care not to make it smell like food (I think) as you don't want kids ingesting the stuff even if it is " all natural " . You would need to figure out carefully how to make it safe and non toxic and how to insure the product won't spoil- most preservatives are not natural- when you are using anything food it spoils fast....so all considerations. What might be cool- really cool is to sell kits that people can make with their kids at home an this way the short shelf life is fine and they can make small batches....I think the making of it with a parent really is a benefit to the child. I think you have the potential to really market the heck out of this thing ;-) If you go forward with it feel free to join my Natural Mama Barter list and you can barter/ trade / or sell it there ---we have hundreds of natural moms there and most have businesses that sell things that this would compliment- waldorf crafts etc...join us anyway if you are not already there (sorry, I am not sure). Lot's of mothers have launced their new natural business there. We have web designers, etc who all barter- pretty neat! NaturalMamaBarter These are my thoughts ;-) Good luck!! Whole Life Essentials. Guest guest
Hi Becky, Essential oils and vegetable oils all oxidize. This means that some of their chemical constituents combine with oxygen to form other, usually, non-preferrable chemicals. Althought sometimes oxidation is a plus with certain oils especially certain essential oils as they become even better or their scent enhanced through oxidation. Vegetable oils just go rancid. I do like your idea though and I think that had some really good input for you. I really hope this goes for you. Just keep working at it and learning everything you can and you will succeed, I have no doubt. Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
