Art provided his usual interesting Lyme info. These packets of course were designed to be seen by the press AND we had hoped to be able to hand them out to the attendees from the NIH. We were forbidden to do that with treat of jail. First amendment rights do not apply on the NIH campus? Well, anyway, when I arrived yesterday afternoon at the NIH two women walked over to me and asked if I had any literature for the protest. I said yes and I handed them a packet each. Then I said " Where are you from? " and they said " We work here at the NIH. " I thought they were two protesters who I hadn't met yet. I said " Did you know that we were coming today? " They said " Yes, we read about it on the Internet yesterday. " THEN it got WEIRD. They said " What is your name? " I told them my name and they asked me to repeat it. Then they asked for the SPELLING of my name! Whenever I've introduced myself in person, I generally am not asked how to spell my name. On the phone -- yes -- not in person. So, anyway, guess that's how they got the sites and I guess we can look at it two ways. (1) We peaked the curiosity of the employees to see what it was we were so riled up about ... which we had hoped a person with common sense would do. You know like where there is smoke there is fire. (2) Or good ole' Eddie McSweegan is at it again to gather his own fodder to add to his own personal insanity. I got home last night and checked the reporters guest book and he had already posted there about us then referred back to his own site about Quackwatch. (3) And the beat goes on. We got the blood pressure cooking yesterday of a lot of people and NO ONE of us ---- so much as raised their voices. Marleen
Guest guest
Very Special Indeed Are they members? Do we want to lock them out? I mean the reason for this private list is so we can vent and explore things without Big Brother reading every single word. Am I wrong? Guest guest
Anita, I thought it might be good to tell Rita Stanley about who's been checking your site. Do you mind? I was going to email her anyway and ask if NIH had received a copy of the Globe's article. It strikes me that they could be genuinely interested in what's happening here and it might further interest them that something's been published about it in a major paper. The head of NIH is supposed to be a great human being - I wonder out loud if there's anyway of getting some of this to his attention. beth [Lyme-aid] Link found re: " The Elucidation of Lyme Arthritis " by > Dr. Alan Steere > > > >From: " Barbara Fitzmaurice " <blfitzma@...> > > > >http://www.cc.nih.gov/ccc/lecture/astute.html > > > >This link above discusses " The Elucidation of Lyme Arthritis " > >by Dr. Alan Steere, and his award of " Astute Clinician " . Guest guest
Jeanne, Welcome to the group. We have some members who haven't seen any improvement on Xolair until the 9th - 12th month. Doug, our group founder, is one of those that needed a full year to see benefit, and then he made tremendous gains in his health outcomes. That said, have you told your doctor that you notice increased wheezing after getting your shots? We have had a few people complain about headaches, but these usually disappear after the first couple of months. But if you haven't told your doctor, you should. If your doc says it's ok to stay on Xolair, then given all the OTHER meds you have to take, you may choose to stay on it. Also, how high is your IgE and what is your dosage. We have had 2-3 folks get a slight increase in their dosage after a few months with no improvement and then they did see improvement. Good luck, and keep us posted. Guest guest
I also considered giving up on xolair after the 6th month but now i have been taking it 1.5 years and see a significant result, I did not wheeze after my shots, you need to run this by the physician, if you can hang in there I believe you will see a difference at some point. Guest guest
- I also tried to quit after 6 months but my doctor advised me to stay the course. I have now been on it for over 5 years and am PRED FREE! Doug group founder
