Guest guest
Hmmm I wonder how many of us have high blood pressure which can be a precursor to a stroke? I too questioned Novartis and GenTech regarding stroke possibilities. They said they had no record. Please contact them and let them know about your stroke. If more people are telling them that there might be a possibility that Xolair is causing strokes, maybe they might investigate further. Please let me know how you make out. I posted a group repy as well. There is another person that posted in January 2009. Ask our group leader Doug to find all postings on neurologic problems or stroke problems and he will send you the postings. Guest guest
Derby, I have to wonder if migraine sufferers are more likely to suffer a stroke while on Xolair, etc. as I have read that in general that migraine sufferers do have more strokes. I am very sorry you are going through all of this. You have had a great response to xolair--wish I could say the same. Ashleigh ________________________________ From: Derybj <arbarj2@...> Sent: Thu, November 19, 2009 11:14:11 AM Subject: [ ] Strokes while on Xolair I had a stoke on Sept. 17, 2007 while taking Xolair. The stroke affected my eyesight. I could not read and that continued for 2-3 mos. I had an appointment with a neuro-optomolgist and was told that it would get better, but they had no reason as to why I had the stroke. I have had a history of migraine headaches and I thought it was just a migraine but when it wouldn't go away and I woke up that morning not being able to read the paper, I called my doctor and tests were run immediately which resulted in the diagnosis of the stroke. No one could put their finger on the reason. I even question my allergist as well as the Xolair team if Xolair could cause strokes. They said that they had no report of strokes. Then in 2008, I had another silent stroke that I did not know about because of no symptoms.... ......it was discovered during a routine visual field test at my optomologists office. My visual fields were impacted again and now I have a permanent visual problem with the right side of both eyes. I again asked the question, has any one else experienced strokes while taking Xolair. I posted on line to this website and no one as of 2007 reported strokes, nor as of 2008. So I continued with the Xolair because I have never felt this good in 25 years. I have not had an emergency room visit since starting Xolair. I have not be hospitalized for my asthma in 5 years, nor have I had to use prednisone (which was an ongoing medication for 15 years just to keep the asthma at bay) for the last 5 years. Am I symptom free, NO. I have cut my medication down to one medication 2 x day, plus the Xolair every other week. I am 59 yrs. old......... .stroke at 57 and 58. Is it Xolair related, I don't know........ ...no one seems to be able to answer the question. Any one else have comments? BJ Dery
Guest guest
I had a TIA in 98, but that was way before I started on xolair, so even if I had or have another stroke, the last place I would think of as a reason would be xolair...... Adah On 9/17/07 I had a stroke that affected only my eyesight. I am somewhat recovered from the stroke with some residual side effects. I still am missing some of the vision in both eyes. Guest guest
I have been out of towbn and now have 113 messages to catch up on. I saw my pulmonologist in Anchorage today while there to get my Xolair. He told me these reports about stroke and heart disease may (underline....itallics....quotes...) be over emphasized. many of us with asthma severe enough to warrent Xolair may also be experiencing side effects of the asthma....like higher blood pressure and heart disease as well as side effects of all the steroids we've been on. He feels that these have not been statistically eleminated as a source of the heart attack and stroke issues. Any one else hear anything similar?  Mike McBride O God do not leave me. I have done nothing good in your sight, but according to your goodness, let me now make a beginning of good. - Abba Arsenius ________________________________ From: Leigh McCall-Alton <mccallalton@...> Sent: Thu, November 19, 2009 8:57:55 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Strokes while on Xolair  Hmmm I wonder how many of us have high blood pressure which can be a precursor to a stroke?
