I didn't see any results till about 12 months. At 14 months, I was probably blowing around a 350-400, that was 4 years ago. Now, after almost 5.5 years, Xolair has been an awesome weapon in my battle to breathe. The doctor was right when he said that it was not an " instant " medication. I am a " instant " kind of person was very unhappy and tried to quit after 6 months. My doctor assured me to stay the course and now I am glad I did BTW, I was the first asthmatic in the state of Arkansas to get Xolair. Guest guest
I know what you mean. I've been a " late bloomer " on Xolair as well. After 14 months I'm starting to make very good progress. Making 640 in the middle of mountain cedar season(I'm in Texas) is a miracle in itself. As high as the cedar pollen count is right now I would be in the ER pre-Xolair. -----Original Message----- From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> Sent: Sat, 24 Jan 2009 3:19 pm Subject: [ ] Re: I blew a 700 yesterday! > > > Thanks Doug! Guest guest
Well first congratulations. That is an amazing peak flow! But, I have to ask how you did it? I am 68 inches tall and 50 years old and the top of the scale for my age and height is about 570. I blow about 500-550 most of the time. 700, which I can't do, is the number for someone who is about 10 inches taller than me and about 15 years younger. So, I have to say you had one amazing pair of lungs, if you used to blow a 350, that Xolair just saved. I am envious. > > My best peak flow yet! Secondly, I have been on Xolair since it was first approved for public use by the FDA in 2003. It took me all those years to get these good peak flows. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks and let us know Doug
Guest guest
I've been on Xolair about 3 years and peak-flow isĀ 250-300. Before Xolair, it was about 400. Not sure why, I feel OK, no wheezing. Carol
Guest guest
That's fantastic, Doug! My husband can do that without effort, but he's not asthmatic and he used to be a professional trombone player. So colour me impressed!. I blew a 230 on wednesday. Pathetic, right? Well, we had a fire tuesday night and the hallway was really smoky. Then we had to stand out in the cold while the fire department did their thing. Pre-Xolair, that probably would have put me in the hospital. Good news, the building didn't burn down and no one got hurt. > > My best peak flow yet! Guest guest
She would think you have an enormous pair of lungs, asthma or no asthma. Even when I ran marathons and climbed when I was in my 30's I couldn't get past 600, but the still put me in the ~110 percentile. My handheld device tops put at 750. At 700 you are, depending, on your age and height, easily over the 100th percentile. I get happy when I get to 570. I wish I had your lungs. Oh, the things I could do on a bike at 50. > > > > > > Well first congratulations. That is an amazing peak flow!
