I have been on Xolair for three years. I take three injections every two weeks.

I took allergy shots for six years prior to going on Xolair. I never was able

to reach maintenance on allergy shots. Finally my allergy doctor told me I

could not continue to take them and there was nothing else he could do to help

me, other than Xolair. I went to a Pulmonary doc for a second opinion. My IgE

levels were over 1200 and he also advised Xolair. It was the best decision I

have ever made. I have had no ER visits since taking Xolair. I also have had

not had to use my nebulizer after the first two weeks. I used to take four

nebulizer treatments a day and use my emergency inhaler. I could not go into

many stores because of fumes from fabrics, perfumes, etc., now I go where I want

to go, when I want to go. Xolair may not be for everyone, but it has been a

blessing in my life and the life of my family.----- Original Message -----

I'll answer as many of your questions as I can. Started Xolair in

2005 and take 2 shots every 2 weeks. The only side effects I can

attribute to Xolair alone is better breathing and less allergic

reactions (both in number and severity of reaction). I had a headache

the first two months on Xolair which may or may not have been because

of it, but it went away with time. I personally am no more concerned

about cancer with Xolair than I am with living in general. I've been

in a clinical trial for a medication before and anything someone has

during the trial is listed as a potential side effect...for example, I

had two migraines while trying the medication so headaches were listed

as a possible side effect. I, however, have migraines approximately

once a month sometimes more with or without that medication. I would

be more concerned if the trials had shown a particular type of cancer

showing up more frequently, but as I understood it, it was all types

of cancer. Who's to say that the people in the trial didn't already

have undiagnosed cancer or their genetics had them predisposed to

cancer or even that people with autoimmune disorders are more likely

to have cancer than the general population?

You don't have to go on Xolair, I chose to and I'm very glad I did. I

had only been to the hospital one time for my asthma but then again my

docs gave me all the tools they could to keep me out of the ER. Short

of someone to put me on a ventilator and epinephrine for my

nebulizer, I had everything I was given at the ER for a severe attack

and used it when needed.

Hope this helps you some, but be sure to read previous posts. These

questions are asked frequently by people considering Xolair and have

been answered multiple times over the years that I've been a member of

this group. It is a great place for information for others in a

similar situation.

since going on xolair, it seems as if i keep a constant sinus infection and have

sludge like drainage which gets stuck in my lungs.
