It took me about 12 months to get relief. Prednisone? Don't need that nasty stuff anymore. I have lost from 220 to 170 since I became pred free due to xolair Doug Group Founder > > so, if you are starting Xolair - resign yourself that you are going to > give it at least 18 months before will have noticeable improvement. Guest guest
I'm in my 14th month(started in nov 07) and I'm just starting to get good results. At times I can breath comfortable, other times not. It's still a lot better than it was before Xolair. Having one or two dangerous attacks a week wasn't a lot of fun. -----Original Message----- From: JoyCarol and <jclutterbuster@...> Sent: Sat, 17 Jan 2009 11:43 am Subject: [ ] Give Xolair 18 months I started Xolair injections in July of 2007. I had my 18th injection last month. For those of you willing to do a year just to see, please give it at least 18 months. Prior to July of 2007 I could not get below 20 mgs. of prednisone (I had started taking it in 1977 and had a continuous 30 year habit). I looked awful, my moon face and weight gain was at an all time high. Friends told me I my skin looked grey. I felt awful, always short of breath and wheezing. I have very few actual allergies, my asthma is considered intrinsic - environmental factors you can not be desensitized against. after a year I ceased the steroids, then a personal stress situation put me right back on them. Stopped taking them the end of October, and am doing surprisingly well. I noticed an improvement at the 15 month point. I have lost 26 pounds and once again have cheekbones. so, if you are starting Xolair - resign yourself that you are going to give it at least 18 months before will have noticeable improvement. If I had given up at a year, I would probably be back on the evil candy merry go round and heading back down that slippery slope.
Guest guest
people do a double take when they see my non-moon face, something I've had since I started on evil candy since 1977. I have had gradual improvement after one year, really started to be noticeable after 15th injection and since then I have lost a total of 26 pounds. I get my 19th injection today. I can not say it enough, give Xolair 18 months, giving up any sooner will be a waste of your time, money, and quality of life.
Guest guest
I am so new to Xolair that my input may not be useful. That has never stopped me from giving some, so here goes: My IgE was at 32, barely over the minimum. I started the injections (2 per month, given at the same time) on 1/5/09. I have noticed a decrease in coughing and an increase in my peak flows. How much of this is the Xolair versus the prednisone I just finished is anyone's guess. I am hopeful, though that i can avoid further problems. Mike McBride Don't cry because it's over, laugh because it happened.
