Guest guest
Hi, thank you for giving us an update. It sounds like you've done everything you can do. I'll be interested to see if your daughter's doctor calls back.... Addy Group co-owner > > I called my daughter's dr. to let them know she has bronchitis and how her asthma flared the day(s) following her first shot(3). Of course the dr. wasnt there so his nurse called me back. She said the flares were prob. because the pollen was so high. I asked her about dosing and ask her about options like was mentioned here(lower dose, alternate high dose/low dose every two weeks instead of max. each time, etc). The nurse said it wouldn't make a difference as far as having a reaction and because my dd's IgE is so high and she has so many allergies that anything lower might not help her. I ask her if she though the shot had anything to do with my daughter getting bronchitis and she said no but I thought that upper resp. infections was a side effect. I also ask her about what if's..like when would they not give the shot(S)for ex. fever, sick, etc. and she said they go by her peak flow..if it is 20% under her norm. they wont give the shot. I also ask her to have the dr. give me a call when he is there. I was waiting for her to ask me why but she didnt. > I had my xolair shot today and ask the nurse the same questions about dosage (I trust her more) and she said the same thing about a lower dose prob. wouldnt be effective given her severe allergies so I feel a little better. So I guess I'll keep her at the higher dose and see what happens after the next shot in a week. > I'll let you know how things are going. If you thiink of any questions I should ask her dr. other than what was mention above pls. let me know. Thank you. > > jean >
Guest guest
You are 100 per cent correct that xolair can increase the incidence of upper respiratory infections. I know that before I took xolair, my sinus ct scans used to show normal results but now they do not and I seem to always be sick. Did xolair do this? Who knows? Have you tried the following things which might help your daughter: Is her bedroom carpet free and is the entire room clear of dust collectors? Do you wash her bedding frequently in hot water with a fragrance free detergent and please tell me that you do not use dryer sheets. Do you have a hepa filter in her bedroom? Have you had her food allergies checked? Milk, wheat, peanuts, etc. are biggies. This is basic stuff but important. ________________________________ From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Sent: Monday, May 11, 2009 2:14:15 PM Subject: [ ] Re: reaction ? follow up daughters shot Hi, thank you for giving us an update. Guest guest
Thank you i was beginning to doubt my self. Everything you mentioned has been done as far as environmental controls including more. she was tested for food as a child at 3 yrs old. She did test to peanuts(high) and the rest low(1 or lower). She was recently tested for nuts again and is allergic to all nuts and tree nuts. She has never eaten nuts and I ck. labels very carefully. She is allergic to environmental(dust, mold, trees, pollen, grasses, etc) I have requested in the past for her to be tested for food allergies again but was told at her age she probably isnt allergic(um, probably..so this means dont even bother) I recently took her to a naturopathic dr. because I wanted to try supplements and wanted to make sure I was giving her the right ones and dosage. I ask him about food allergies and He had suggested doing a blood test(ALCAT) for food sensitivities and after great consideration I said to go ahead. We had to postpone her appt(tomorrow) though because she is on pred. He took her off dairy for a month suspecting a sensativity to and it seems to help a little bit with her rash, not much but a little and she is also a lot less bloated. I also ask him about her vit D level because of her being on pred. so much along with immunesuppresants drugs. He is the only one that has listen to me and had her Vit d level tested. Good thing too, it was really low, 12.3(the range being 32 -100) I really like this guy. He is the only one that is open to my opinions and willing to run test based on what I think. I ask him about xolair expecting him to say not to do it but he said he though we should go ahead because of her severe allergies. well I guess I am getting off the subject a little bit so I will stop. thank you for your suggestions. I appreciate all the help this group has been. jean > > You are 100 per cent correct that xolair can increase the incidence of upper respiratory infections.
