She should be just fine. Just remember it takes some of us up to a year to see

any results at all.

I know about 3 years ago, a study of Xolair with folks with peanut allergy was

discontinued, because the peanut challenges proved to much of a risk. Whether or

not any other studies have started, I don't know. As for food allergies and

Xolair, talk with a doctor who prescribes Xolair to a large population,

including children, and see what his/her experience and knowledge are, and ask

him/her to contact the folks at National Jewish and see what information they

have (National Jewish Research Center in Colorado has been involved in Xolair

research from the get go).

If you do a search, you should be able to find posts from some of our parents

with kids on Xolair, which have been very positive. Most of us, but not all,

have done very well on Xolair. I thank God for it every day, and I know my

parents, who had such a rough time with my severe allergies/asthma, wish it had

been available much earlier.

Best of luck,

I have severe food allergies but did not begin taking Xolair because of them

(asthma was first priority). That being said, since I started Xolair in 2005 I

have noticed a great improvement/decreased sensitivity to many things that used

to bother me. Unless I'm late getting my Xolair or already have my allergies

flared up for any other reason I don't have near the food reactions I had

pre-Xolair (for instance, instead of throat swelling and anaphyl., a lot of

times i just get mild itching around my mouth and hives on my arms). I don't go

out of my way to eat things I know I'm severely allergic to though (34 years of

not eating a lot of foods is a hard habit to break).

Is anybody with food allergies taking Xolair? I have a child with severe food

allegies and asthma. I would like to know what other people's experience has

been with xolair.

I don't have any known food allergies, but I can tell you that Xolair appears to

have completely cured my sulfite allergy. I can drink wine again and eat dried

apricots!
