Guest guest
Not sure how to put this, but it could b that the allergist felt as if his path was cross with out consultation by the other provider. Doctor r funny when it comes down to other doctors wanting to take over of their patient care. He may not have but I'm sure he felt that way. Talk to him again explain to him as a mother u want the best treatment for ur child wheater it comes from one doctor or 2 doctors. Express to him that ur daughters asthma has been well controlled while on xolair and u wish for this treatment not to stop. Now u can get help with drug when or if ur insurance terms Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile -----Original Message----- From: " gigles_1955 " <fgigles55@...> Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2009 00:11:17 < > Subject: [ ] dr stopped daughters xolair shots my daughter has been on xolair since may 09. she has asthma but was put on xolair off label for severe skin allergies/hives. The xolair was helping her asthma but not skin so her derm. decided to put her on cyclosporin. Her allergist(xolair doc) wanted her to wait another month but because of her skin severity she cant wait. The allergist seemed a bit miffed and said he wont keep her on xolair if she goes on the cyclo. and his reason is becasue we wouldnt know which was working for her skin. I tried to explain this didnt matter because it was helping her asthma but he said no. and it has nothing to do with these medicines interacting becasue I found out they dont. I dont know if my daughter can go to a different dr. and get the xolair there as her allergist said he was calling xolair to tell them my daughter is no longer getting the shots. this post is more of a vent than any question..it just ticks me off that this allergist is doing this..I wonder if it is a matter of his pride or the fact that I had mention she would be off my insurance in March. aahhh some doctors
Guest guest
I think it's more covering his butt more than anything else. Cyclo is a heavy duty drug, and a pretty known quantity. Xolair is a really heavy duty drug, with a nice huge black box warning. I'm sure the allergist is thinking if things head south, he doesn't want to be holding the bag. Especially on a pediatric patient. Also, I guess, the allergist wasn't that impressed on how well it was/is working to justify in his mind to keep it on board. Was her asthma bad enough to qualify to be on Xolair alone? Because if it was strictly for skin, and it isn't helping (the reason for firing up the Cyclo), your allergist probably doesn't want to fight with the insurance company justifying using Xolair and the Cyclo. My 2 cents, he doesn't want the " aggravation " and isn't that impressed with Xolair, more than your money situation. Guest guest
maybe, but the allergist was working with the derm before this appt. I was thinking of calling him to dicuss this because it is upsetting. He wont return calls though, you have to go in and see him so many I'll just make an appt. and surprise him, . thanks for the reply. jean > > Not sure how to put this, but it could b that the allergist felt as if his path was cross with out consultation by the other provider. Guest guest
he could be. I wasnt pushing him to cont the xolair but ask if he felt it was saft to keep on both. he just said if she was going on the cyclo then he wouldnt keep her on the xolair(and he had said it was safe)..what ticked me off more was when he said he would see her on a need to see basic where as before he saw her every three months (and this was pre xolair) I should have said something then but I think I was sort of surprised by his actions. I will call him if for nothing else then to ask why he isnt mointoring her as before. and yes she has moderate allergic asthma and high IgE that traditional meds werent keeping under control..her asthma is severe with upper resp infections. The xolair was helping the asthma and another reason I dint understand why he was quick to stop. he just acted put off becasue I wont postpone the cyclo. until Jan. His tone just change when I said she needed the cyclo now. I know I should have spoke up but I had so many things going through my mind at the time I just didnt think straight. I will figure it out. jean > > I think it's more covering his butt more than anything else. > > Cyclo is a heavy duty drug, and a pretty known quantity. Guest guest
this mystifies me. My allergist would never do something like this. I've got carte blanche from him to try ANYTHING to help my sinus inflammation and my asthma. Chinese herbs, even.... Guest guest
My dd's derm is like that, anything that we think would help is ok with him I remember something else the allegist said to me not too long ago that shows he doesnt like his toes stepped on. He had suggested my daughter going to an ENT and I had mentioned a couple I knew of..he said he prefered I didnt go to them because they would suggest allergy shots and that was his field..I didnt think much of it then but with this....better off without him. jean On Sat, Nov 7, 2009 at 5:02 PM, pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> wrote: > > > this mystifies me.
