You know, if I wasn't a bona-fide member of this list, but instead was some

weirdo who just got off on dwarfs, this e-mail is an absolute God-send!

I get info on a gig. I get the date, the time, the place. AND, glory, glory, I

get a phone number! If I was a geak on here I'd be in heaven!!!!!!!!!

Freddy: I am not sure why this is bothering YOU so much of all people.

You live in the UK For Heaven Sake!!! Secondly this pertains to LP

related information correct. And that is the purpose of this list

serve. Thirdly before I submit any kind of information such as this I

never do it without there consent. Making certain the person who is

hosting the meeting is perfectly ok with it.. I have done this for

about 6 month now and I have yet had anyone having a problems with

anyone stalking them to work or at a grocery store. In our LPA Officer

handbook it states in black & white Page 12. Ways to encourage more

members to join. i.e. Attracting Media Attention: Local City Newspaper,

Hosting District Regional., Press Release, Television. etc.

Freddy when I hosted last year meeting. I contacted my local newspaper.

And our chapter received good exposure for doing that. And I received 2

phones calls with parent that were thrilled to see our article about our

Chapter. Simply because they were unaware there was something like that

for there teenage daughter. So now you can say we established a contact

with a family that were truly grateful. Apparently a friend of a friend

brought the newspaper article to there attention and call me that very

night. With a lot questions & concerns in regard to there daughter

future & the LPA organization. We met the family that following w/end

at the meeting.

Freddy FYI there was no mob lurking around us during the meeting. That

is how I myself encounter LPO Little People Of Ontario, Canada when I

was 12 yrs old. My mother who spotted the article brought it to my

attention. And the rest is history.

And now we have a powerful tool called the internet and a site that is

design for us to post information from a far to help those on all levels

to inform people on upcoming meeting and much more!

I personally believe we need to stop being so afraid of posting

information in order to hopefully attract new families w/ a son or

daughter living w/ dwarfism. Or someone who they themselves are living

with dwarfism. It worked well back in the 70's. If by a rare occasion

you have someone who is annoying. We are intelligent people that know

how to use a phone and how to dial the authorities if need so.

Fred don't be so afraid of the real world and perhaps try thinking out

side the box.

If concern for my fellow man is a sin, then wow, I'm guilty.

And I believe, all I did was echo the plea of one of the moderators of this

demonstrate the insensitivity AND " I'm alright JACK! " attitude which

prevails in some quarters of this list.

So what you are saying is, I have no business sticking my nose into the

safety of fellow dwarfs?

I think it is shocking that people like yourself, castigate people who are

not afraid to show care and concern to their fellow small statured friends!

Therefore you are also telling (indirectly), Whims, moderator of this group,

to keep HER nose out, for doing the same thing since she put out the

original request for people NOT to divulge such info.

my concern is with the safety of the people who post personal addresses and

phone numbers on the list.

this list is a public venue, and supplying the internet with everything

except your SSN is one way to promote identity theft and home invasion.

i fully agree that it is necessary to circulate information to people who

may be unaware of a group near them. however, for their own safety, one

might consider an email account to which a prospective merry maker may

respond to obtain further information. i have no problem putting my name out

here and my location in general [ohio]. if i was hosting an event at my

home, i would make the detailed information available off list.

we give the warning as moderators to remind people they are responsible for

their own safety. that's the best we can do. whether or not people choose to

take that advice is their option and their responsibility.

c'est la vie.
