Guest guest
I know it seems overwhelming right now. My son has seen so many doctors (he has autism, seizure disorder, cyclical vomiting syndrome, food allergies, etc.) and I thought I'd never get it all done. Let me tell you that it does get better. Filling out the form takes time, but it is well worth the effort. Dr. G reads every single word and views every single lab test and doctor's note. My son's records were over 200 pages long. Here's how I did it--first check with her primary care doc. See what specialist documentation is missing. Contact the docs for the missing paperwork (you may be surprised--most specialists send copies to your primary care doc, so they may have more records than you think). Have all records sent to your primary care doc and then have your primary care doc send copies to Dr. G. That way everything Dr. G needs is in one mailing. Regarding what you can do now, go to www.neuroimmunedr.com and check out the section on what tests to order. Your primary care doc may order some or all of them for you. The only thing supplement wise you could probably use now for gut issues would be probiotics. Good luck and keep posting. The people on this list are very knowledgeable. Guest guest
It does take time to get all the medical records and the paperwork does also take a long time to fill out but rest assured, Dr. G reads it *all*. Right now, for her gut, I would give probios and start with the diet. I don't have a gut kid so I can't really say what Dr. G does for the gut, if anything but I can definitely tell you that you should get on the diet now. You can also download the list of tests he will do at the initial appointment and you can get them done so you will have it ready for him when you see him. The wait list is probably about 2 months from when you get all the paperwork in but I'm not certain. That's what it was a few months ago. cheryl On Mar 17, 2008, at 7:16 AM, sonia.martinez29 wrote: > Ok help i went to a dan doctor but i didnt fell comforable so we > walked out any suguestion ...... i got the paper work for dr G. but > it is so much and i dont have all of her medical records it going to > take me forever to fill out the papers or get the medical records > because we have been to so many doctors... what should i do? what > can i do for now with her bad gut ? > > > > > > im going to a dan doctor today. Guest guest
I'm a little late on this thread....we treated for parasites with homeopathy (from any good health food store). Cina was the remedy. Very, very effective. Tests were done, and redone, and redone on my child with no parasites found. *However* you have to know that there are tests for ~50 parasites and over 1000 parasites are out there. At any given time, 1 in 5 kids (and probably adults) has them; it depends on the state of their immune system whether they are affected or not. Cina is very easy to give (5 tasty pellets disolved under the tongue a few times a day for a week). This is what worked for us...I'm sure there are lots of other treatments out there. Kristy Re: new here The fact that she's losing weight and constipated would *really* lead me to believe parasites. What kind of doctor are you seeing? Are you seeing a DAN? Mainstream doctor? Guest guest
No side effects at all. The 'gist' of my message should have been that if parasites are suspected, don't rely on testing to determine if they are there. Find a treatment to get rid of them, if they are causing a problem. My son was deathly ill from diarrhea when he was affected. Kristy Re: new here > > The fact that she's losing weight and constipated would *really* lead > me to believe parasites. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. I'm relatively new here too. I was dx'd with CMT1A about 15 years ago. I've struggled with symptoms for as long as I can remember. At least now I know I wasn't just a klutz when I was a little girl...there was a reason. I too have problems with my hands, especially my right one....which is my dominant hand. My fingers tingle...burn....and around my wrist and the palm of my hand it burns and hurts like crazy. I have lidocaine pain patches I cut in half and put on it...they help some. I also put ice on it at times, just to numb it. I've been tested with an EMG there....just to make sure it's not carpal tunnel syndrome too. The dr. who did the EMG said it was CMT related, but yet my neuromuscular dr. has told me it's probably carpal tunnel...so who knows. My legs haven't been hurting too terribly lately, but that's probably because I'm not walking as much as I used to. I sincerely hope that you are able to find some relief from your pains hon. I commend you on breastfeeding your daughter.....that's wonderful! Good luck to you and feel free to write me. Hugs, Sherry
Guest guest
Hi Gretchen! I've only met two others with our name! Your welcome here and I hope you'll get alot out of the network. As for talking in his sleep - I did that as a kid, and lol, am told I still do it! Sounds like your little boy may benefit from DAFOs http://www.cascadedafo.com/ (they come in different colors and details. Blood testing for CMT is done through http://www.athenadiagnostics.com There are many different (genetic) DNA tests, so your neurologist will determine which one/s to order if necessary. I was about 7 when the first CMT symptoms appeared in me - falling on the playground frequently, falling in the creeks on hikes too, but getting wet was fun! My favorite was the soda, somewhat related in technique to the K Tea I make here at home and love. I will definitely have to try my hand at that. Has anyone tried it yet? I work in the oil industry and yes I know I know it’s not the greatest place to be right now but we do sell bio fuels and try everyday to get it out to new customers commercially. I try very hard to overcome my career choice by being on top of things going on in government and our earth that’s related sustainability and wear the sandwich board very proudly; when the opportunity arises. Guest guest
Hi , I'm , a co moderator of the list. I've been a member since just about the beginning. First off, WELCOME!!! Don't know how you found us, but I am glad you did. We are a diverse bunch, and have been through a lot together. We are more than a discussion group, we are more than friends. We are family. And just like family, we have our share of "granola". Fruits, flakes, and nuts. And also just like family, we don't always see eye to eye. But we love each other, respect each other, and are here for each other. I personally am a vegetarian, and a "hedge witch" (an old term meaning one who uses nature and natural methods for health rather than chemicals and invasive procedures). My personal take on health is joy. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I subscribe to that motto whole heartedly. You will likely see me, or my alter ego Guido cracking wise with little or no prompting at all. So, jump on in, the water's fine. No sharks here, just the occasional playful dolphin. Again, welcome! Peace, love, laughter “If taking vitamins doesn't keep you healthy enough, try more laughter: The most wasted of all days is that on which one has not laughed.â€Hello Everyone, I am and I live in south South Jersey on the west coast. Guest guest
Hi Tricia, I've been asthmatic all of my life, but had a lull during my teens and twenties, then all hell broke loose when I was about to turn 30. I'm now 51 and have been on Xolair for 4 or 5 years (I've lost track!). It has saved my life. I was getting hives that kept me on Pred for months and months and months and months. They were getting more frequent and worse and harder to get rid of. I have not had ANY since starting on Xolair. I still take all my regular asthma meds (advair, accolate) and use other allergy meds and immunotherapy, but the Xolair is the thing that has made the difference. I can't remember when I last used my rescue inhaler. On Feb 24, 2010, at 4:04 PM, Janice A wrote: > > Hey Tricia, hello. I am Jan and been on zolair for about 2 1/2 months. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am new here and going to be new for Xolair. My son who is turning 6 soon is going to be starting on it. Guest guest
Well, , personally I wouldn't let Xolair scare you. As Asthma treatments go, I think it's on the lower end of the risk scale. Since childhood asthma can be deadly it's obviously something to address and control, but not fear, so weigh your child's risk against the benefits. Not to scare you but an asthmatic child in our neighborhood went out without his inhaler, had a serious attack, and didn't survive it. But as father of four now grown children, one of them with asthma that for the moment has outgrown it, I'd be asking what else can a parent do? I'd really look closely at your child's environment and see if there's anything more you can do to improve the air he/she breaths, without getting fanatic about it, such as getting rid of putrid carpets, moldy or dust-mite infested bedding, or smoky air. And if the family dog goes out and rolls in dung give it a bath right away. As my allergist said " it's not the dog, it's what the dog brings in " . I grew up with four dogs in the house and now I'm allergic to about everything but dogs, but when the dog goes out and rolls in deer urine and comes in the house I'm going to have a bad day. I'm not a health food nut at all but I do think some things in ones diet, like garlic, can be a help. Don't take my word for it ... I'm really not qualified to give medical advice, but research this on the Web. Congratulations on being your son's health advocate. That goes a major way to raising him to happy and successful adulthood. > > Hi everyone. I am new here and going to be new for Xolair. My son who is turning 6 soon is going to be starting on it.
