I see that Ames, from West Texas, is pictured under Talent-United Kingdom and

Europe.

What's up Ames. Looking for a paid vacation or are they using your pic without

your knowledge?

Just wondering. Hope to see you soon.

Shortywood ...a new 'low' for the lp culture.

My opinions only.

I'm not sooo much bothered by this site for lps seeking employment in

the entertainment area than I ask myself this more, Why, with all the

creativity many of us have in the fields of art, writing, acting,

musicianship, photography, and what have you; with the originality

many of us have and are even born with too, why would any of us want

to mimic/copy cat those who are in my mind are not and never were true

'pop' stars anyway? Rather they're 'prop' stars the 'fad' industry has

forced down our throats, or should I say in our ears to hear and in

our eyes to see... when all we need is ourselves:). Because, to me,

the greatest talent is within us and not in the costume of a 'prop'

star, be them dead or currently alive. And be them as a mini or not,

because I hate it just as much when big people do it as well.

Now, this is not condemn everyone on there as I don't know what they

all do, or will do to be employed, as I did see many faces who I know

to be truly talented with their own creativities:).

But, Donna, this is my one question to you:

What is the 'Little People Culture' or 'our' culture? Please define

that in yer own words, thnx.

Sometimes I think we where go wrong is this: It's in our saying,

" This or that is the little people culture, " as if we only have one or

for that matter we should only have one too. Why, because just in

'our' counterpart or in the 'bigger' world that surrounds of 'us',

it's also comprised on 'many' cultures, or those of varying fields of

employment.... Thus, we are too:).

What's wrong with a label discussion?

The form " you " are is of no consequence? What about looking for a

public restroom? Doesn't your male label become important? What if

you are having lunch with a friend and you followed a specific diet

(e.g. -- Kosher or vegan)? Doesn't that become important when you are

searching for a place to eat? Are all forms of labelling bad? Is

there a difference between those labels we give ourselves (e.g. --

political stance, religious preferance, etc) and those that others

feel free to hoist upon us? Isn't your employment list basically a

list of labels?

I don't think it's possible for anyone to eschew all labels. As much

as I would love to believe that sharing similar physical traits makes

all of us more sensitive to using labels as weapons, I don't believe

it does. It does, however, prove we really are like everyone else.

Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, LOL! Told ya so! :)

If you keep working at it, and do the exercise you can do when you're at home,

then you will loose at home too.

Just don't be surprised if you see a small gain again after being home for 2

weeks.

As long as you stay true to yourself and work at it, and do the swimming you'll

be fine.

we are done with driving. I talked to my husband and told him that home-time

has to stop being a " relaxed " eating time for me. I still have a year to go on

this diet, I can't afford to keep cycling the same pounds, it's unnecessary. My

treats do not need to be food....I am eyeing that pool I now have total access

to day and night right down the hall from my apartment! THAT will be my

home-time treat! lol

made it a full 5 weeks at a time yet, so I wonder how he will do. I am hoping

my dogged determination will influence him. I fix healthy and whole foods for

us both, so if he could let go of the nighttime snacking, he'd lose weight just

fine. He knows this, and I told him that this time out on the road I will

remind him if he strays that he wanted to change. One mention, after that it is

up to him, I will not nag.

maintain for a long time when I lost weight before. That was 157. I remember

when each time I got to 159, I would cut back until I saw 155-157. I think at

my age, 147 might be more ideal, but I am not sure if I can maintain it.

Anyways, it will take getting there to really know. I noticed that changing the

goal weight suddenly made it LESS than 100 pounds more to lose! YAY! That sure

put a smile on my face! 99 pounds to go!

Here is a link to the clip. http://www.dlife.com/dlifeTv/v1119240850-Truckers.htmlHope it gives you some ideas and/or help. Dacia-----------------------------Thanks so much Dacia!I am not diagnosed as a diabetic, but the winter of 2008/2009 I was at my worst health wise and started on my own to monitor my blood sugars. I kept a chart and what I ate and everything. I was definitely pre-diabetic, but from what I read, you either are or are not. Anyways. I kept the charts for the time I will see a doctor again. I am hoping with my unpacking I will find the meter again and go through another round of testing to see if my change in diet and weightloss have helped. As for truckers....it's quite the unhealthy world out here. First, of course is the inactivity of driving and sitting such long hours....usually 14 a day. By the time you can break for the day, it's sitting in the truck and then sleeping in the truck. The walks come from using the truck stop restroom.Truckstops cater to men who do not cook. They are filled with junk food, badly prepared gross meals and many have fast food restaurants attached to them. A trucker can use up all their hard earned money paying for this over priced crap. I see very overweight and obese truckers every day, and there is the "trucker walk" the walking while trying to unbend from being in an L shape all day! lol. Experienced truckers start cooking on the truck to save their dollars and hopefully to save their health. We stock up on food from Sam's Club before we hit the road. We then hit a truck friendly Walmart once or twice in the 5 week period to replenish our stock. It all depends on the store (many do not allow trucks) and our schedule and timing to be able to stop. This is when we get some fresh food, at least what we can eat in about 2-3 days.Exercise....well let me say that I have seen articles about walking around the truck stop. NO, NO and TRIPLE NO. It is NOT safe. These truckers come flying around corners like you wouldn't believe, there are pot holes the size of Kansas and well, being a woman, I certainly am not going to walk around these guys, I have a hard enough time finding these creeps in the women's restroom! This is a man's world, and I will not subject myself to unsafe situations. So exercising is a luxury I have to wait on. And I have been asked many times about exercising on the truck...we simply do not have the room. All of this does not mean I cannot take positive steps to better health. We eat in the restaurants perhaps once or twice while on the road, and this is mainly to take a break from the truck and change our small environment. Usually it is a breakfast. We do all of our own cooking, I try to stay as wholefoods as I can with our storage situation. I grind our beans for coffee and use a french press, I slow cook root veggies and meats in the ovens, I give husband fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs and potatoes for lunch, so we do very well. And even with all the limitations and having to rely on some food I would not normally eat so regularly (starch) I have been able to lose weight.Husband is having more of a difficult time with it though. He has more stress than I do, and is driven to eat more than I can. It causes some irritation for me, as I have to watch him eat (hear it, smell it) because we are so close together all the time. In the beginning, I really had a hard time when we would drive late into the night, finally pull over to sleep and he would come back with a burger and fries! I had to lay on my bed smelling that food and feel so resentful as I went to bed hungry, and he is satisfying his appetite! But over time, I am the one who feels better physically and reaping the benefits of saying no to excess food, while he is continuing to struggle with it. I can see why trucker are unhealthy and easy it is to be so tired and stressed and walk into the truck stop and see nothing but quick, hot and junky foods. LOL...didn't mean for this to become a novel. Just something so hands on for me.Ann
