Why am I suddenly terrified!!!!!! > > I was kinda scared when before my first shots in 2003. I didn't know anyone else who had taken the shots and really didn't know what would happen. This is why I started this group. Now since you see that most of us have had great results, you shouldn't be so terrified Doug Group founder
Guest guest
I can understand some of the fear...it is fear of the unknown. But isn't that true with surgery, or any medical procedure, and any new medication you take? Unless you are afraid of shots. I have found the shots to be easy to take (it really depends on the nurse who gives them) and aside from a sore arm and extreme tiredness when I began the shots, I have had NO reaction and have been helped tremendously. The soreness went away after the first two or three shots and while I still have some sleepiness after my shot each month it is manageable...I can still function without having to go home and take a nap or go to be extra early. Hope this helps reassure you..... Guest guest
I guess its the fear on the unknown - not knowing how my body will react. Shots are no problem - its the initial reaction and the fear that it won't work is the problem- but I won't give in to my fears an hopefully I will be posting positve results. ________________________________ From: Adah Voigt <asthmatic50@...> Sent: Mon, May 24, 2010 11:52:56 AM Subject: Re: [ ] I am approved  I can understand some of the fear...it is fear of the unknown. Guest guest
That's great that you are approved!! I'm doing the testing over again, IGE, PFT, and then will apply after I see the doctor next week. I am guessing I'll be terrified too when it all gets approved, but after reading all the positive results on this site, I hope you're excited too! > > From: Kathy & Chuck Egan <ckegan33@...> > Subject: [ ] I am approved > > Date: Monday, May 24, 2010, 10:31 AM > >  > > Finally my insuance company approved Xoliar - it is being overnighted to me. Why am I suddenly terrified!!!!!!  > >

Guest guest
Darcy, In this group we find that every one reacts to xolair differently. A few days ago we had one member say that xolair started working after a few shots. Others take longer like myself. At 6 months of getting 2 shots every 2 weeks with no results I wanted to quit but my doctor advised me to say the course. I am glad I did for it took me a year to see any relief. I used to be on 40 Prednisone a day. (We call it " evil candy " in the group LOL) I am completely off evil candy now and only use my neb of xopenex 2 times a day. What a complete difference. Also, I have been taking the shots for almost 7 years without one problem at all. Hope we have helped you out with our positive words of experience Doug Group founder

I got my shots and went home. Now, my doctor makes 30 minutes and tells me to carry my 2 epi pens for the rest of the day. Doug
Guest guest
Hi Doug, The group has given me alot of encouragement! I would love to see results after a few shots, but I've got my mind around 6-12 months as well. I'm currently on a long run of the " evil candy " myself. I see the doctor next Wednesday. Did a PFT and labs yesterday and will be submitting the application to insurance then. Does anyone know how to read a spirometry result? The tech said the doctor would go over the results, but I can't really decifer them. I hope you are home and feeling better. Guest guest
It's interesting to see how different doctors deal with the shots. My doc said 30 minutes the first shot and after that I can just leave with my epi pens. > > I will give it time - I am starting June 17th - with the end of school for my children it was the first time I could give up 3 hours if my time - doc said 3 hours first three shots and then it gets less. -Â Â > > > > ________________________________ > From: Ol Wheezy <uca79iii@...> > > Sent: Thu, May 27, 2010 2:15:23 PM > Subject: [ ] Re: I am approved > > Â > > > Darcy, > > In this group we find that every one reacts to xolair differently. > A few days ago we had one member say that xolair started working after a few shots.
