I don't know what to say! I've got my shots when not at my best, but not sure

about the first time. Although there are several that due the shots at home,

which is against FDA recommendation too. You could always call your doctor and

ask his advice.

Xolair 6 months, still on daily steroids :(

P.S.

What treatment do you get at the dr office?

Subject: [ ] asthma flareup and due for first shot tomorrow

Hello, I've been following and reading all the posts for weeks now. I am

supposed to take my first xolair shot tomorrow. Wouldn't you know it, I have

been struggling the past 4 days and cannot seem to get my asthma under control.

Since I have never had a shot I am concerned about taking it when my peak flow

is in the low range (300-310. I have been taking xopenix 2-3 x day, plus

Symbicort 160, plus several doses of QVAR. No getting better, so am going to

the doctor tomorrow for one of their special breathing treatments. My appt. is

about an hour and half after that treatment, so - don't know whether to call and

cancel(hospital out-patient) and wait for a better week, or just take my

breathing treatment and go. If you have a bad reaction to xolair, will I be in

more danger because I was marginal to begin with?? Thank you, Marilyn

Talk to your doctor. It sounds like you need to go in and get a breathing

treatment (I'm assuming that's alubterol or xopenex via nebulizer) anyway.

Feel better soon!

My doctor won't let me have regular allergy or xolair shots when I am having

problems breathing.

Once, I talked him into nebbing me first and when I could breathe well again he

gave the ok.

First of all, why can't you do a 'special breathing treatment' at home? I am

doing one as I write this -- maybe you wouldn't flare up as bad or as often if

you had a nebulizer at home and could do the breathing treatments when your

schedule allows. Also, my peak flow has also around 300 recently (I am

recovering from Bronchitis) and my doctor wanted me to get my Xolair shots this

past Monday he said they'd help. I would definitely speak with your doctor

before getting Xolair but it Xolair doesn't put any added stress on your system

so it should be OK. I hope this helps, and I hope you feel better soon!
