Guest guest
First of all, congratulations! I don't know what pregnancy is like for you, but the best piece of advice I can give is, " do the best you can, and don't freak out if it doesn't go how you planned! " . I had big plans for NOT putting on loads of weight and for eating healthy and exercising right through my pregnancy this time (number 2 for me also), but that lasted until week 5 when 24hr a day morning sickness put paid to all my big ideas. Now I'm at 33 weeks and just dealing with my toddler and my life (currently renovating a house on weekends) is taking all my energy. Even my pregnancy yoga tape is just sitting on the shelf apart from maybe a couple of times a week! Of course, it could be that I'm just a lazy slob, I hear about these amazing women who are back in pre-preggy clothes the day after they give birth etc etc, bah, humbug. I hope that you do way better than me, but if you don't/can't, don't beat yourself up. As for rules, I think they're different in the USA to here in NZ, but here a midwife / obstetrician will tell you not to go past long slow distances for cardio, because if you overheat, so will the baby and that's not good for it. Also, you are in maintenance mode now, and that goes for weights and food. Don't push for 10's in anything, 8's is probably about the most, your joints (esp later on) will get too loose and you can severely damage yourself, like one of my personal trainers did when she went back to yoga (not postnatal, but normal yoga) too soon. oops. 3 years of physical therapy on her back later... Whatever your maintenance level is for food, that's good for during pregnancy. The biggest problem here in NZ is that you're not allowed any cold proteins (meat, eggs, deli stuff). It's a huge problem for me, cold chicken is my favourite thing to eat. However, listeria poisoning is apparently a big problem for unborn children, so I'll follow the rules as much as I can. I hope this is in some way helpful, Phoenix > Hi! I finished my 1st challenge 3 weeks ago thanks in part to the > ladie's support on this board. Guest guest
Thanks so much for your response! I have been VERY tired these last few days - this time caring for a 19 month old means I can't sleep whenever I'm tired! I am going to try to continue cardio - NOT HIIT - because I have learned anerobic activity leaves the fetus w/o oxygen. I REALLY want to try to ONLY put on the 25 - 30 lbs. recommended - instead of the 55 I put on w/ #1 ! Thanks again - your advice was really helpful. I have to remember it's not MY OWN body for the next 8 months! > > Hi! I finished my 1st challenge 3 weeks ago thanks in part to the > > ladie's support on this board. Guest guest
I've forgotten where I have gotten up to as it has been a very eventful weekend! Jeff had his original Surgery on the 15th April and all seemed to go well until he started to eat. The intestine started to leak, so on Friday 25th he was rushed into surgery again and they " double stitched " the join and didn't put in a colostomy bag. He had since caught a chest infection so when he came out of the 2nd surgery they sedated him for 24hrs and did the breathing for him. Saturday they started to bring him around and we were able to communicate by squeezes of the hand and mouthing of words with blooming great big tubes in his mouth and down his neck. Over night Saturday he had another bad night and they had to fully sedate him again and rushed him into surgery again Sunday morning to insert a colostomy bag. That was Sunday and he is still under full sedation and can not respond or maybe hear anything. I just want a small improvement to hold onto, but every time I go in which is twice a day now, he is the same or worse. I feel so helpless not even being able to communicate with him, but I shall always try. We always had a stupid thing of doing the sign language of " I love you " to one an other and I make sure that when I'm their I hold his hand and let him know by sign and voice. I don't know if he can understand, but if there is a small chance he can I shall do it a thousand times over!! Lots of love Sonja
