Guest guest
I also had my monthly dose yesterday. My asthma is slowly getting worse again. Last summer, my peaks were around 600 to 650. Now they are 400-450. I am back on Symbicort, have added Q-Var, nebbing 3+ times per day with Albeutrerol and using my puffer 3 x/day or more. Can Xolair loose it's efficacy?  Mike McBride O God do not leave me. I have done nothing good in your sight, but according to your goodness, let me now make a beginning of good. - Abba Arsenius ________________________________ From: Ol Wheezy <uca79iii@...> Sent: Sat, February 20, 2010 5:40:38 AM Subject: [ ] Shots yesterday  I had my bi weekly Xolair and allergy shot yesterday. Lately, I have noticed my asthma is really better than ever. I nebbed only once yesterday with a xopenex/atrovent combo. No pulmicort, no advair. Woah, so much better than before I started Xolair in 2003. Nebbing 5+ times a day with a mix of xopenex/atrovent/ pulmicort, advair 500/50 twice daily and 40 mg of Pred. Ahhh being able to breathe again is soooooooooooooooo GREAT! Doug Group founder Co/owner/moderator

Two Xolair shots and a regular allergy shot. You might want to ask your doctor what he/she thinks. My asthma has really improved over the years. Of course, this MY case and everyone is different. Guest guest
My experiences are similar. I do worse if the mold count is high and this time of year RIGHT NOW as the spring pollens come out. I think it's just too much exposure. I CAN'T wait for our really hot summer. Guest guest
My reactions to insect bites of all kinds as well as allergic eczema are much improved since starting Xoliar. Addy > > From: McBride <mike.dmcbride> > Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Shots yesterday > > Date: Tuesday, February 23, 2010, 10:42 AM > >  > > I have been getting Xolair since January of last year. This is the first full winter I've been on it. That said, this winter was much more mile than is our usual. I know that it was more harsh for lots of folks down south, but I live in Alaska. We barely went sub-zero and have actually been in the 40's the past week. I am back to keeping predisone on hand, just in case, and do NOT want to take it. I already have too many lousy side effects. It was the pred side effects that finally made me move from South Carolina back to AK and my doctor here recommended the Xolair. >  Mike McBride > > O God do not leave me. Guest guest
...... I do the shots at home now and I have for about the last 2.5 years. The difference in the allergies are so significant until it is worth it all. > > Gwendolyn Rafter > How do you get them to let you self inject? Every time I bring it up, the jaws hit the floor and all the potential problems get rattled off. No one seems to care that the time they have me sitting in the office isn't matching up with the time I'd be most likely to have a reaction or that there are people who inject insulin every day and if you screw that up it can be deadly. It just doesn't make sense to me. With my other health issues, it's getting harder and harder on me to go anywhere. So I would love to give myself Xolair at home. Seriously, he AND the nurse had an extreme look of SHOCK on their faces like " WHAAAAATTTTT ARE YOU NUTZ? I self injected my REGULAR allergy shots for 20 years till all the allergists around here stopped letting patients do it. As they say hear un Arkanthaw... Guest guest
I was talking to the nurse about self injecting recently.(I like to bring it up once in a while, hoping they'll get used to the idea.)My husband and I would love to get on a boat and spend months exploring the pacific northwest islands. This would be difficult, if not impossible, when I need to be in the office for Xolair every other week. She volunteered to come along to give me my shots! > > > The first time I asked my Doc to let me self inject at home, his nurse had to get some smelling salts because he fainted dead away. > LOL! > > Seriously, he AND the nurse had an extreme look of SHOCK on their faces like " WHAAAAATTTTT ARE YOU NUTZ? Guest guest
waaay back when i started on xolair, a xolair RN came to my drs office to teach them how to mix it (i guess it was so new, they were afraid to just let people follow instructions??). the xolair RN asked if i wanted to learn to inject myself. SURE! they showed me how to mix/inject and i've been doing it ever since. the original plan was for me to do it at home eventually, but thanks to the FDA and all their regulations, i'm stuck at my drs office doing it. i guess it could be worse..... > > .....
