Hi - Good for you for signing up as the group organizer. That is what was needed. You can count on me to be there if you do have any luck. You may have

misunderstood my post. What Dr. Finley wants is a mamometry done - but it is my choice apparently. He said there is some liquid ( water ) sitting in my esophagus. I find this odd -

like why doesn't water go down!. He more or less indicated that this was for "information" only. I am not having any reflux problems at all. I did not have any medication after the surgery except for the Gaviscon for spasms. No prescription drugs.

The spasms are very infrequent now, but you know what the Gaviscon still works for me.

I must admit I am procrastinating about the mamomety, simply because he said it was

my choice - but I will get it done.

Sounds like you are doing great and I am so happy for you. I agree with Liz'

comment that once achalasians are "better" they tend not to post. I think this is very

true - I know of three in this area alone. Anyway you keep on posting - I can tell you are keeping everyone's spirits up....... and that is good.

All the best as always......................

Hi Sandi,

I hope you get great turn out for your meetup. I keep thinking about doing in Vancouver soon… in the actual meetup site, there are actually a few members… but I don’t ever get a response back… Maybe that is the technology-challenged part of me doing something wrong? Ha – probably!

Good to learn that the procardia works good for you… I hope it continues. Don’t wait long for the dilation if you think you need it. You know what the outcome can be!!! Don’t do things the hard way!

Good luck with your business, and the meetup. Let us know how it goes! That would be a blast!

Hello Everyone,

For the past couple of years I have been organizing a luncheon with my fellow Achalasians from the bay /Northern CA/ West Coast/ or anyone happening to be in the area Area! I usually plan the event for President’s Day Weekend which is very quickly approaching us.

I’m planning to have this years luncheon in Sausalito, CA. I am not yet sure of the venue, but wanted to give you all the heads up to anyone and everyone who wishes to attend, I think I’ll be having it on Sunday, February 20th this year.

If you would like to join us, please email me at holt-smith@... to better assist me in the planning and making of reservations!

I’m sorry I have not been posting in awhile, I’ve been very busy getting my business going which has been taking up a lot of my time, but I do keep up with the posts on a daily basis and have been doing fairly well with the achalasia. I do think I probably need a dilatation, but I am going to hold off on it for the present until. I take procardia for my blood pressure, and I didn’t realize just how much it helps with my swallowing until I recently ran out of it. I was ooff of it for a couple of weeks, and I started regurgitating until I got back on my meds! I definitely do much better with the procardia…and it really does help with the spasms too.

Warm wishes to all our new members of the group and as always, I look forward to meeting my fellow Achalasians!

Hi ,

I will let you know if I plan anything…

I think I’m gonna try a ltittle harder to reach a few of the other

members of the meetup group…. I know you and I are in…we’ll

see whom else we can get ;)

I will let you know how that goes J

Glad to hear it is nothing urgent on your

part. That is great. Dr. Finley sure knows what he is doing, and I am

thankful every day that I was lucky enough to have him.

Talk to you soon ! Take care!!

Yes and you know, you just HAVE to have a good sense of humor. What else will you have if you don't: grumpies (no thanks)

You are very welcome -thanks for the smile today! ....every 8 hrs?

(ala) - wow - definitely not recommended here. Everything I have

read here & researched elsewhere, well, I plan to stick to CP " like

superglue. "

(still looking into dmsa/dmps - not comfortable with the idea so

far,for us, tho' still not " real clear " on dmsa/etc stuff yet.) One

thing (mostly) at a time for me...

wishing you the best

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for the info and I will definitely look into it.......as soon as Quentin is back in school. Right now my husband (the writer, like Arthur , not rich and famous but I have denied him denial) has taken time from his work to take Quentin grocery shopping so I catch up on correspondance.

I wanted to let you know that we did not get the same psych as you. Ours was Toby Motycka and everything went smoothly and so 13 months after applying for 72D we received a letter saying that we have been approved for the children's waiver (which I know from this group is the new name) but underlined it says " contigent on Medicaid application process " so here we go again I guess.

Dr. Motycka was even humorous when I told him that Quentin sometimes wanders out the door and that I am always with him so I can get to him before he gets too far but the problem is that the cat gets out with him and we have to go to criminal court in Dupage County this Thursday because

of " cat running at large " charges made by a crazy (but undiagnosed) old man in our cul de sac. He said " so let me get this straight, its illegal for the cat to wander but its legal for your son so you have to run after your cat and let your son continue down the street "

Lets look at the bright side, maybe Quentin will go to jail for letting the cat out and then we can get some respite. No just kidding, hopefully we will get a sympathtic judge because until my husband is as famous as Artie we can't afford a lawyer (which will cost Quentin 3 months rent).

As we always say, a sense of humor is a definite plus when one has a child with a disability!!!

Thanks for the chuckle!
