Guest guest
Hi. could I ask what meds she is on? My son ( 15) has OCD, bipolar, asperger's, depression, anxiety, ADD. The OCD is really getting bad lately, to the point of almost nonfunctional. we are seeing a specialist now to try to help. The most frustrating part is that it is all 'trial and error' on the drugs. There doesn't seem to be any real way the drs can help our kids. thank you in advance for any suggestions. ~Kathy Concerned , I would be very concerned about this phrase: " She does not want to be herself any more. " My daughter said this type of thing when her OCD hit hard (before we had the diagnosis) and in a few days, she was actively suicidal. Same thing, after five years of nearly no symptoms, when the pdoc took her off Prozac and she relapsed into severe OCD, she said this phrase again and not long later, was hospitalized under suicide watch. She's back on meds and doing very well, now. in VA tic during well period Posted by: " Ballard " hlballard@... hetball Date: Mon Jul 16, 2007 9:53 am ((PDT)) Hello, My daughter (10 w/OCD, depression and mood disorder NOS) has been experiencing a well period for the last 3 weeks or so. The curious thing is that although her anger, mood and OCD symptoms are muted her tic has become much more pronounced. She often complains and gets very upset that she can't control the movement of her arms. She woke me up last night and kept me up saying over and over that she can't stand it any longer. She says she feels so restless and jittery that she does not want to be herself anymore. My question is, have any of you seen a tic or general restlessness in your child increase or materialize when they experience a well period? Thank you, __________________________________________________________ Expecting? Get great news right away with email Auto-Check. Guest guest
thank you for your thoughts. we just took my son off prozac. it didn't seem to do anything for him. now we are trying cymbalta.he is also on seroquel and lamictal. I know he needs something different. we are seeing the specialist again. so hopefully we will have some more recommendations of what to try. ~Kathy Concerned Kathy, Both of my daughters with OCD are on Prozac. The 19yo takes 60mg three weeks out of a month, and 80mg during her pre-menstrual and early menstrual days. She has to take more during those days both because the bad thoughts kick up, and because she has bad cramps unless taking more Prozac. Prozac is prescribed to people regularly to target menstrual cramps - apart from depression or OCD. My younger daughter, 13yo, also takes Prozac. She formerly took 40mg but for the last several years has taken only 20mg per day. This keeps nearly all her symptoms at bay. We were so lucky to have the first med we tried, " work " and we have stayed with this. I am so sorry about all that you are going through with your son's conditions, treatment resistance, and the confusion about which meds will do what. in VA __________________________________________________________ oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. http://mobile./mobileweb/onesearch?refer=1ONXIC

Guest guest
That's another great issue about being sleeved. Let's say you did have a problem, you could go to any general surgeon, GI surgeon, or bariatric doctor. It's just the band surgeons that are angry that they are losing business to Mexico. They claim that their medical malpractice insurance does not permit them to take care of someone who had surgery in Mexico. Do you have any idea how many people live in the US that are from Mexico? Since when are they refused medical care in the US because they are from Mexico? They are not refused care. Medical malpractice doesn't give a rip where you were banded, it's all political. Doctors are losing business to Mexico and they don't like it so their way of fighting back is to not provide follow up care for banded folks from Mexico. But general surgeons and GI surgeons don't give a rip about the politics of banding in Mexico so they'll see anyone. They don't even know about the politics of losing business to Mexico because they are not losing business. Dr. Aceves won't discharge you until you have had three leak tests and he's positive there is no leak so the risk is minimal. But if you did have a problem any ER, GI surgeon, or general surgeon could take care of you with no problem. Guest guest
Hi Robyn I'm not sure Where BFE is in CO but I thought you mentioned Sterling once. If so, there is a really good bariatric surgeon in sbluff, NE who accepts Mexico banded patients. His name is Dr. Holloway and he does travel around a little (Alliance one day a week I think) so you would need to find out when he is around if you needed him. Anyway he is familiar with Dr. A patients so I think he would sure be able to check you out if you needed to. Maybe you could call him ahead of time to be sure. Just my thoughts. Guest guest
Robyn Hey, it's a 5 hour drive for me! But my son lives near sbluff so we visit him when we go. My daughter goes from Casper, WY, too. Well...actually she is Carla the one who had the revision from lapband to sleeve. That is the glory of the sleeve--you don't have to worry about finding Drs. What is wrong with this picture? I live in God's country up near Steamboat Springs. The name of the town is Walden and it is definitely BFE! I have spent most of my summer near sbluff and in Mexicali for a week. I thought everyone wanted to be in the mountains in summer where it is cool!!!! We have been helping my son butcher his pastured poultry and it has been HOT there. But Mexicali takes the prize at about 115 degrees when we were there! It is in the 70's up here so I hope I can stay here for awhile before another chicken episode! I will be thinking of you in August when you get your sleeve--it should be hot there but the hospital is actually quite cold and I wore sweaters and a jacket all the time I was in the hospital. Some rooms are hotter than others but I always seem to be in one that is cold. You can ask for a fan if you get too hot in your room. Well, my prayers will be with you on August 5 and I hope you have a great weight loss journey! Guest guest
Kim, this is one of those "go figure" situations. You are right to go back on liquids for a day. From time to time we all relapse into the old habits of eating too fast, not chewing well, taking too large of a bite. And it only takes a "get stuck" moment to remind us that our band is a fickle lady who is totally in charge of our stomas. It will forgive one time and punish us the next. Go figure! Guest guest
Wow Ken, You are doing excellent. I've had 2 fills so far. When I am on my back, the doc has me push my belly out. He is able to find the port then really fast. It was a breeze. I can't wait for my next fill, 2 weeks from today. I haven't hit restriction yet and loss has come to a standstill. Guest guest
Hi, Ken - there are several fill documents in the files here that should be useful for you - " Fills - when do I need the first fill? " " Fills - how to help get a good one. " Generally, if we are losing, we do NOT need a fill. be sure to call them and check to see their guidelines. We are never trying to loase as fats as possible, but slowly and safely, and in a way hat can last this time. If the fill place is not the same practice where you had surgery, be sure you take a surgical report and the info on the size band you have. This will determine partially the amount of fill that is considered. very important. for ports that are very deep, a fluoro to locate it is very useful and reduces chances of tubing punctures. You might want to be sure one is available. The first fill rarely makes much difference (the first few are not even meant to be enough, but only meant as a small, gentle introduction to stomach presure). but with later fills, it might be wise to stay locally overnight to be sure the fill is not too much. Otherwise, you'd have to come right back, and need someone to drive you. Be sure that someone is available to unfill you , if needed, 7 days a week. if they are gone on weekends, get a fill only on a mon or tuesday, so there are plenty of days left in their workweek to get back if needed. Just some ideas - fills are usually fine, but you know 's law - if one is not prepared, the possible problems seem to arise more often. They should be giving or sending you written info on all ofthis, as each doc may do things a bit diffeerently. good luck with the fill! Let us know how it was.. Guest guest
I had my port and tubing replaced on Oct 8. They said I had a leak or whole in my tubing. I had a good fill for several months when the leak happened so I know it was not poked by the Dr. Sandy have you seen this happen very often it is the pits when it seems I am always try to get a good fill. I have had 3 fills (once a week) and now I am at 3 cc in a 4cc band, it is working pretty good. I go back on the 20th for a check-up this fill may be good maybe just a tiny bit more. Guest guest
Ken, are you going to see Lee Trotter? Just wanted to let you know, there is also Pennings in Post Falls, ID, which is only 30 minutes from Spokane, in case you have any trouble. I've worked with Dr Trotter in the OR, he seems pretty good. (I'm in school at Gonzaga/Sacred Heart in Spokane, becoming a nurse anesthetist right now. He operates in our hospital.) Congrats to you and your early success. Sandy makes an excellent point about bringing your records with you. The (new) surgeon really needs to see the operative report and exactly what band is in you before they will touch you. As far as finding your port, they have lots of little tricks to help find your port (having you do an abdominal crunch, or lift your head or knees, pushing out with your stomach, etc.). On the vast majority of patients it is not difficult, especially now that surgeons have so much more experience with band patients. And if you were at NWWLS for your surgery, my sense is that they are pretty experienced and have a pretty good reputation, meaning that the port is more likely to be placed in an accessible place by your surgeon. Good luck to you! Guest guest
Thank you Gwen: I have no idea who I am seeing, it will be in Spokane on Nov.18 and your words are very encouraging. I just want to get the first adjustment over and done with. Driving to Everett Wa is a very very long drive for a 5 min. procedure! I live on the Canadian side just at the end of Hwy.395 north of Spokane. Thanks again!! Ken -- In , " Gwen " <gkeyt@...> wrote: > > Ken, are you going to see Lee Trotter? Guest guest
I'm so worried right now that something is wrong with one or both of my CIs. For now I've decided to stop wearing my processors and try again later to see if the dizziness goes away. It's only been 5 minutes since I removed my processors and the silence is driving me nuts. I'm so frustrated!!! Bilateral Cochlear CIs December, 2004 and February, 2006
Guest guest
, My suggestion which I'm sure you've already thought of is to call your audiologist tomorrow and get in for a mapping as soon as possible. I fully understand the silence and how maddening it can be but coupled with your visual issues, I cannot imagine how hard that is. I know that when I try to walk into darkness, I have a very difficult time when there is no sound as well. Guest guest
Hi Alice, I just sent my audi an e-mail, but will also call her tomorrow. I thought about turing down sensitivity, but I can't because of the CTS in my hands. Oh well. I think I'm going to go take a nap so I can avoid the silence for awhile. Guest guest
, dizziness could be migraine related. Take your wrist, and go about 2 fingers width below your palm and press hard. This is an acupressure point to relieve dizziness. ____________________________________________________________ Start your medical billing career! Guest guest
, I do experience migraines, but do not have one at the moment. By the way, I'm still dizzy. I took a nap earlier thinking that would help, but it didn't. Tomorrow I'm going to ask a neighbor of mine (if I can't get in to see my audi instead) to lower the sensitivity on my processors because I can't stand the silence. Guest guest
, Try to keep in mind that you only heard from a very small number of people about their experiences with Orencia. You can always ask your rheumatologist for reassurance.
