Arirenna,

You are doing the right thing by calling humira. I am on humira now,(every

other week), but I use to take it weekly. I never had any problem, no red

bumps.

Usually, if you have a problem with oral mtx, the doc usually prescribes

injections. I would sure talk to him, remember he works for you. Sometimes,

you have to tell them what you need.

Hi Arirenna - I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of things.

It sounds like you might want to consider finding a new Rheumy. I don't

understand why he won't prescribe the MTX injections. The side effects are so

much less than the pills. I also didn't like to hear that he kind of " poo-poo'd "

off your concern over these red bumps. Humira has a hot-line

bumps and whether the Humira is causing your calf aches as well.

I completely agree with Doreen, having takien MTX both ways, injections were so

much easier on me in terms of side effects and digistive issues. The injections

are no big deal.

Hi there,

I take Humira every other week & have not seen any bumps on my body. I now have

been told I need to take weekly & have started this week & I will see if I see

any changes & let you know asap.

Hi everyone. My 5 year old son Nolan had his 1st injection of xolair just over

a week ago. He was fine till Friday and that is when he started limping. He

can't explain where the pain is it just hurts. I know leg pain can be one of

the side effects. Just wondering how concerned I should be. Thanks

Please call your son's prescribing physician and report the leg pain. I would

also call his teacher and make sure he didn't have a spill on the playground or

something. I don't know if " growing pains " occur this early or not; I can't

remember. I've had a couple of friends complain to me of their children

experiencing random leg pains (children do not take Xolair) and the peditrician

diagnosed it as growing pains....

We've had a handful of parents post to the board in the 7 or so years the

board's been in operation. I can't remember any of them posting their children

experiencing side effects, but everyone is different.

Totally agree with talking to your son's physician.

But I also have a thought. That is also a side effect of oral steroid use.

Not sure if anyone has experienced this or not, but I normally get some sort of

leg pain or cramping when I'm on the " evil candy " . Had this happen even when I

was on Xolair and pred at the same time. That usually is a sign of low

potassium. All the more reason to eat your bananas!!

Xolair has been on the market for almost 7 years and then several months (maybe

years) of trials before being approved by the FDA.

To my knowledge there has never been a report of anyone getting leg pain from

xolair, however, the drug was originally meant for people over 12.

Addy is right. Let your doctor know asap and then keep us informed.
