Guest guest
Amen Doug, My bi-weekly experience is very similar to yours. I almost look forward to my visit with the nurses, doctors and patients. We are very lucky. I am blessed to have a great clinic My typical Friday: I walk into the allergy clinic and all the staff says a cheery " hi Doug. " I say " hi ladies, tell ________ I am here " and within 5 minutes she calls me back. She weighs me, takes my BP and heart rate, I blow into the kazoo and she asks me how I am doing and if my medications have changed. We yack while all this is going on. I ask her when her boyfriend is going to pop the question and if I can perform the wedding after he does etc... LOL She is just 22 and like a daughter to me. During all of this the doctor sticks his head in for just a second, says hello and asks how I am doing. " Fine Dr Z " I say, good to see you. " " Good to see you too Doug. " he says. As we are yacking she gives me my first xolair shot in one arm, then the other. I don't feel a thing! THEN, the REGULAR allergy shot goes in and YES I feel that one. It usually puts a red bump on my arm. She then gives me an appointment card for my next xolair visit in 2 weeks. I go out to the lobby to wait my 30 minutes and visit with the receptionist, read a magazine or yack with other patients. After my 30 minutes are up, I show my arms to the girl in the shot room (the place where regular allergy shots are given) and I leave. The ladies at the receptionist desk say " bye Doug, have a great weekend, see you in two weeks " . I then do my Friday grocery shopping and errands. I DO carry two epi pens with me the rest of the day. This is doctors orders. Guest guest
I go once a month for my shot and I, too, am very blessed by the Doctors, nurses and office staff at the Clinic. One girl gave me my shot too fast, left an ugly bruise, very early in my experiences with xolair. She was let go from that office shortly after that and since that time my experiences have always been very pleasant. Even the doctors who do not take care of me are always very friendly and pleasant. I enjoy visiting with the staff and with the other patients as well......Yea for Dr. , JoAnn, and all of the others in the office!  It makes me sad when others do not get the same kind, considerate, friendly treatment.... Guest guest
My doctor's office is very friendly and caring as well.... I was not given any epi pens... should I have these??? I have also been VERY tired since I had my first injection a week ago Friday. Is it normal to still be so tired. I normally have a lot of energy for someone who is 'sick' so I am not liking this at all. It is very difficult to get out of bed in the morning. I am wondering if it is the medication or possibly something else... Happy Sunday! christine in Oklahoma
Guest guest
, Ask your doctor about the epi pen. He/she can give you a prescription to pick one up at your pharmacy. Some doctors require that you carry one after injections, some don't. Doug in Sunny Arkansas
Guest guest
Thanks Doug! I will call tomorrow to get the epi pen... I sure hope the xolair will start to help soon because I feel like I have been hit by a truck in WINDY, GRASS FIRE, Oklahoma. UGHHHHHHH! I hope you are pain free soon! christine > > > , > > Ask your doctor about the epi pen. Guest guest
I also look forward to my Xolair shots visits. I'm treated like one of the family at my doctor's office and rarely is there more than the slightest little sting from the shots. Then I get to relax for 30 minutes while the risk of reaction passes (I've never in years had a reaction). My doctor and the nurse giving the injection have much bigger problems in their lives than I do and in some small way I can converse with them to help them with their burdens. So there's lots of give and take, and we all profit from the interaction. > > I know some of you have said you have bad experiences with your doctors and nurses.
