Guest guest
, your post brought back memories when my mouth was so dry I could not lick a stamp.(Spiriva) The mouthwash that was mentioned helps, they also have special toothpaste and some sprays you can carry in your purse for when you are out and about. The " can't swallow " thing I also went through, mine was anxiety. If stopping the medicine does not help, try meditating or relaxation tapes. Sorry you are having such a struggle! Guest guest
Hi All! I've had the dry mouth for quite awhile but it's only been bad as of recent. The trouble swallowing started around the time of adipex, a month or so before the Xolair. I'm going to discontinue the Adipex for a few days to see if it gets better. I am fine during the night but once I wake up, BAM, it hits me like a ton of bricks! I've been up an hour, had a cup of coffee, 2 Halls cough drops and a shot of chloraseptic. I'll definitely go to the drugstore today and see what they have to offer as well. Drinking water has never been a problem. I drink at least 120 ounces of water (8-10 bottles) each day... I'm attributing this to some correctol I took last week too....maybe my potassium is low... As far as anxiety... I have a huge issue with this but have never had the " dry swallowing or trouble swallowing " issues.....I take Xanax everyday (.5mg X 3 per day) and even after a xanax I do not notice a difference... the dryness is still there and therefore creating a hard time swallowing! I took my blood sugar last night and it was 115. When I woke up I took it as well and it was 106 so my sugar is normal as of right now..... Either way, I'm going to take everyones advice and rule all things out and get some stuff from OTC at the pharmacy!!! I want to thank you all for all of your help during this horrible time. Venting to others and getting great feedback is such a blessing!!!! I hope that I have helped you guys out in some kind way such as you all have helped me!!! You're all a blessing to me. Guest guest
Now that I think of it, I had the dry mouth and difficulty swallowing last year. It was a very trying time. I went to the ENT and he told me that the back of my throat was becoming flat instead of round and that something was too narrow brought on by the Samter's disease. It eventually got better but I had to stop taking my antihistamines for a while. I also started to skip a day with my Lasix water pill. ----- Original Message ----- From: heartabrasions@... xolair users < > Sent: Wed, 23 Mar 2011 10:38:43 -0000 (UTC) Subject: Re: [ ] Dry Mouth Hi All! Guest guest
Doug, I am sure you know this but the caffeine might help you to breathe better too! Caffeine is chemically related to the asthma drug Theophylline so take it with caution (I am on Theo it works but it does have its side effects). On a side note, my allergies are NOT happy with this lovely 'roller-coaster' in the weather department here in the North East so my allergist/pulmo switched me from Allegra to Xyzol last week to see if it'll help... so far it hasn't but it is still early in the change and I'm having major sinus issues at the same time so its hard to tell what symptom is caused by which body part . I had my bi-monthly Xolair injections this week so hopefully that will help with the allergic part. Is anyone else on Xyzol? Is it effective? Thanks, Meagan > > I had severe dry mouth about 6 years ago. I had to have a bottle of water with me wherever I went. > > I got a blood test and found out I was type II Diabetic with an A1C of 9.6 thanks to Prednisone. YIKES! > > Now, I am OFF Pred thanks to Xolair, I diet, exercise, take Januvia and Glyburide. My last A1C was 5.9 and dry mouth has disappeared. > > Other meds can cause dry mouth but Xolair has NEVER given me ANY side effects whatsoever and I have been on it for 7.5 years now. > > Update on the pain meds: > > My PCP just called me in an Rx for Trezix. It is a mixture medication of Acetaminophen/Caffeine/Dihydrocodeine. Guess I will have to take it in the mornings so the caffeine won't keep me up at night. > > Doug > Group founder > AKA Pain in the neck but can breathe LOL! >

In the early 60's the doctors gave me a pill called tedral and quadrinal which had theophylline in it. Also they would give me plain ol theophylline and Valium to calm me down. Horrible days, just horrible! Back then, they had NO inhalers or nebs that contained Albuterol or xopenex so I never was able to get instant relief with one. I used my dad's squeeze bulb inhaler with edephrine in it against my doctor's wishes to get SOME relief. now, at age 56, I am so happy to be on xolair and be able to never live those nightmares again. Guest guest
Wow I am so sorry to hear about the dry mouth issue, however Xanex can cause dry mouth also. I would definetly speak to the pharmacist about help. ________________________________ From: " heartabrasions@...
