I know a lot of us deal primarily with our specialists. After a recent visit to

my GP, I was reminded of how important it is to see a generalist physician once

in a while. I'm pretty confident I've developed irritable bowel syndrome. No

surprise - 40 years of frequent antibiotics and prednisone are bound to take a

toll on my gut; plus, my brother has it.

I'd been managing this with self-care and a Rx for Nexium from my pulmo. My GP

made some additional self-care recommendations and also gave me some samples of

a different RX for reflux (Dexilant), explaining that some folks have GI

discomfort with Nexium.

Within five days of making the changes my GP recommended, I was feeling much

more comfortable throughout the day.

You are right!  I see my GP more than my allergist since xolair!  I was

severely anemic several years back and the doc could not find out why, so I see

him every 3-4 months to make sure that doesn't happen again!  He takes care of

everything except the allergies or respiratory infections.

Glad the change in medication helped you!
