To the responders:

This was not my first negative response in public in regard to jarrod, just the

first one that was blatently loud and openly in regard to his dwarfism.

The reason I brought up the fact that the women were black is that it is a

physical chareteristic, also that they were women, also that they were with

identical twins which is a genetic difference. My point to all of that was that

it surprised me that anyone would make such a loud, public display in regard to

anyone else's physical appearence.

Naturally, I come to the list because most of you have gone through similar

experiences that I read a lot, but as yet it has never been that way for us.

That isn't to say we have never noticed stares or gawkers, even pointers...so

far most of which has seemed like curiosity more than meaness.

The fact that Jarrod missed it amazed me, and I didn't say anything openly to

the women because Jarrod had not noticed. He was too busy being irritated at

the waiter not talking directly to him and bringing him yet another kiddy menu

and the little kids glass of soda that he also gave his 4-year-old

niece...Jarrod was focused on the other injustices going on. :-)

As Fred suggested, it may very well be that I have noticed this sort of thing

before and this was just that one that got to me...It seems easier to tell

someone to let it roll off ones back than it truly is. (sorry Fred-and thanks

for pointing that out)

Glad to open a discussion that can illicit such a wide variety of responses.

Thanks all.

Hey all,

Wow, that was the first blatant one, pretty good! But

I totally understand where you are coming from. It

embarrases me to no end when it happens with friends

or family around.

Um, they were teen girls, they were being rude. I have

teens in my family, I know how they act. The only way

anyone is NOT rude is when they don't say anything.

Soon as you open your mouth and make a comment to me

it's rude. I would never go and say wow, a fat person!

wow, a person in a wheelchair, wow a blind person! If

it's not okay for those groups its not okay for us,

period.

I do have to make an observation which I am sure I'll

get blasted for but, hey, I don't care! I've noticed

that the most vocal people who love to point out me

being short are black people. Yes, all races have, but

they, in my experience, are the most vocal about it. I

love when they ask " How old IS you " , I really want to

say " It's hold old ARE you.

So with them being teen girls and black, does not

surprise me. Now here we go people, did I say all

teens? NO Did I say all black people? NO

May that be the last horrible experience you have!

:)
